Thanks, cool the cheapest Giga board got this BIOS update before the $200 boards got it.
Something is very good with this BIOS compared to the previous ones ( F10 and lower ).
I'll post it. Everybody with an S3 board should update to this BIOS.
I've been using the S3 F10 BIOS & it was alright but this one is better.

    @fRzzy;

Sorry to hear You lost OC , I guess I can take back "Everybody" with an S3 board should update to this BIOS. Yeah it could be like You say, with a perf gain comes a loss in OC, though AFAIK I haven't lost any OC.

    This is a S3 F10 vs F11a_beta BIOS '01 compare, same settings, E6600 at 7x500 with RAM at 4 4 4 12 & 8800GTS@660/999. These 1400 3DMarks are outside margin of error so this BIOS is a keeper for me. F10 left, F11a right.

Quite speedy in 3DMark01SE, but oddly enough seems to do nothing in the other benches, though that needs a little more testing before I can make that statement.

*unfortunately this F11a_beta BIOS puts CPU temp back to abnormal low and is no longer in line with Core Temp. S3 F10 BIOS were in line with Core Temp.

    Hmmm

    Any probs to run C2D 6X50 on DS3, DS4, DQ6 rev 1.0

Official only rev 3.3 support 1333MHz FSB CPU's but ...

Why not rev 1.0 ? DS4 and DQ6 have dual bios Maybe I must try, becouse 6750 is whaiting on bench table

Does the S3 have any option to change the PCI-E voltage?

No problem with rev1.0 and FSB 1333 you can do simple OC ifrom BIOS but rev3.3 is Quad-Core optimized and have better power design

Does anyone recall if (or which) bios was released that included a fix for a PCIe x1 problem (not sure if it was speed or voltage)?

I've just installed a new dual digital PCIe card on my DS3 board and it's having problems. It appears as if it isn't getting enough power tho I can't be sure.

I do know the card works on a different board (an asus) so the card isn't faulty so all I'm left with is my mobo causing problems.

    Any suggestions?

Is there any general consesus as to which DS4 BIOS is the best to be using right now then? I'm presuming that as F10 is the most up to date then it is likely to be the best...

    Hi people.

I have problems with the overclocking of the E2140 and my GA P965 DQ6. Dont know the Bios version atm cause im sitting on another system.

The wall is 391Mhz. Any ideas to solve that problem? I changed vcore, vmch, vfsb, vdimm, timings of ram. Nothing changed.

Cooling is enough. Maybe the E2140 is at his end?

    hi
    i've a Gigabyte p965 DS3 (rev 1.0)

do you think this board is still good for an Q6600 (when G0 came out..?)

i'm afraid that Q6600 get a bit limited with the board or something lol

@Bail the 965P-DS3 would make my RAM unstable if I set anything higher than +0.3v in the BIOS. Testing on my DQ6 shows the RAM works great at +0.5, so I suspect you are out of luck. I believe that issue was fixed in later Revisions.

@Viskonde, no. And absolutely not if you are going to overclock. The 965P-DS3 has only 3 VRMs for the CPU, which are barely enough for dual's at moderate overclocks. The vdroop alone was not good, which forced even higher vCore settings to obtain stability.

The Rev 2 and 3.3 models added an extra VRM for a total of 4 to power the CPU. I would suggest the Rev 3.3 DS3 (ClubIt has them), or better yet a newer P35 version only.
