Dead Men Tell No Tales Mountain Mod Build

Been visiting this forum for a while and I must say that I am very thankful for the wealth of knowledge members have posted. It has helped me immensely with my personal build.

I've had some ups and downs, from bleeding knuckles to coolant looking like frothy milk. But along the way, members here have helped me with ideas and support. And for that, I thank you!

I've put down my bottle of rum, finally took some decent shots and and humbly post my two doubloons:

    Hard Gear:
Heart: PC Power and Cooling Turbo-Cool 1200
    Vessel: Mountain Mods U2-UFO CYO
    Proc: Intel QX9770
    Mobo: Asus Striker 2 Extreme
    HDs: 2x VelociRaptors 300GB SATA - RAID0
    RAM: 2 x 2GB DDR3 OCZ Reaper
Graphic Cards: 2x nVidia GeForce GTX 280 OC2 (SLI)
Opticals: LG Blu-ray LG GBW-H20L, Samsung DVD SH-S203

Chassis Ware, random nods and hat tips:
MNPCTECH: Black Machined Aluminum Knurl Case Kicks, Urban Assault 6" Grillz, 80mm Honeycomb Grillz, Red Anodized Fighter Pilot Toggle Switch
    Yate Loons galore
Fries Electronics and the L.A. Computer Fair (for when you just can't wait to get stuff via snail mail).
    Home Depot
Wife. She rocked the cable management!

    Liquid Assets:
    Swiftech MCP655 Pump > ThermoChill PA120.2 Rad > D-Tek Fuzion V2 Block > Swiftech MCRES-MICRO Rez
AC Ryan Red UV Paint (for molexes. Was just plain lazy to physically replace each Molex connector to fit color scheme).

For now, it's only a single loop cooling the proc. My future endeavor is to add another loop to cool the GPUs.

Too bad the UV cathodes made the coolant appear pink. I'm not knocking pink, it's just that that wasn't the hue I was gunning for.

Truthfully, my favorite colour is NOT red.

Kinda dig how this shot turned out. The tubes that lead in and out of the pump frames the 2 GPUs. I'd like to say that this was intended, but then I'd be lying. Then again, I'm a pirate. So then it was intended all along, ok? No. Really.

    I made myself a sandwich!
Unfortunately, it's not the kind you can eat. Well, I reckon you could try, but I'm guessing it wouldn't taste all that flash.

    Rad sandwich:
    Grills > Yate Loons > Shroud > Gasket > ThermoChill 120.2Rad > Gasket > Yate Loons > Chassis
I could probably throw in more gaskets somewhere in there, but typing all this out made me hungry for a real, edible sandwich. Savvy?

    The front intakes.

Another shot of the front intakes.

Bird's eye of the Diamond Top MM panel.

    The side etching.

    The original artwork.

This rig is far from finished. I'd like to do so much more. Perhaps a real worklog is in order...'til then thanks for viewing!

That's a pretty crazy looking machine. I didn't even know they made that many drive bay devices.

It's great you got your wife involved and have her be part of the process. It looks like everything worked out great and that you really enjoy it.

    Welcome to XS!

Excellent - one of the best Mountain Mods builds I've seen.

I think filling the front bays with devices really helps the overall look.

Looks great I really like the red case.

The grills on the front look like speaker grills.
When I saw them I thought you had put sub woofers
    in there!

That would have been kinda cool.....

Rock on, Oli4v! It is indeed a title from Motörhead! It was also book written in the late 1800s. But I'm referencing it as more of an overall pirate theme for the build. Americans know the phrase "Dead Men Tell No Tales" by Disney's popular movie, "Pirates of the Caribbean" and theme park rides of the same name.

Wow! Deffo old school. Haven't heard Lemmy and company in years! Heard they're still rocking out.

Thanks Shazza. Enjoyed your worklogs on your own MM builds. Always a treat to see what you've got cooking. I'll be looking out for more of your posts!

Hey Dave. Yes. They do resemble speaker grills. But what an interesting idea! Subwoofers inside the chassis??? I might be crazy enough to try that!

Sweet build!!! I love the colors and use of the chrome split-loom sleeving (one of my trade secrets so now I have to kill you).

I'm gonna back pedal here a bit till I get some time for more recent shots.

    Earlier in the build:

Here's my secret to make my life easier while working on Mountain Mod cases:

I place a lazy Susan beneathe the case and all it takes is one little finger to rotate it so that I'm not tweaking my back in positions nature did not intend for it to be.

    Thanks for viewing!

Great idea ... I think I'm gonna invent a "lazy shazza" - oh wait, already got one of those.

The more I look at your build, the more I want to get mine powder coated. It really is gorgeous, shown off with your great photography skills as well.

Thanks theseeker! You're correct. I hear the crying shrieks at night. I shall address those cries accordingly. Perhaps in the form of two EK waterblocks.

I doubt anybody who's privy to these parts would ever consider you "lazy", Shazza. Unless "lazy" means creating inspirational and beautiful builds, where do I sign up?

Thank you! And it IS indeed a small world. Re: the stock wheels - they react like grocery shopping cart wheels - too much effort for making a 360 turn. The lazy susan rotates the rig by almost sheer thought. Good for bad backs.
