i just took a quick ss when i booted the first time at 55x just incase in crashed.

If the system black screened with blinking cursor or post code stop at 4E (Gigabyte board)...then it destined for less than 5.49Ghz (mhz. walled in beetween 3.4Ghz~5.499Ghz) no matter what you do with it.

All of this take less than 10 minutes of the cpu life
L051B138 can boot at 55x100 and do Memtest, but it can't boot into Windows. It wil just get stuck at the Windows startup logo.

Does anyone know why I can't boot at anything past 51x (ie: 52x+). It would just get stuck at the Windows startup logo.

Your cpu max multi is 51X, You can try up BCLK to find max/mhz wall

Any ideas why I'm able to boot and do a Memtest at 55x100, but wouldn't boot into Windows?

I never really use memtest with SB. Don't know why, but I came across a lot of 51X windows bootable 2600Ks. Some of it can go 51X 102BCLK and hit the wall.
Neither good air or cold can help

The latest Memtest86+ 4.20 is 100% compatible with SB CPUs and able to detect the CPU, speed, cache size and the whole 9-yard. It ran w/o any errors as far as the memory stability is concerned. It cannot, however detect the OCed speed, just the default speed (3.4Ghz) and not 5.5Ghz.

56X max. but Mhz wall @ 5.65Ghz, the other chip (same batch) maxed @ 53X

Avoid Costarica early batch 3005A749, mostly maxed @ 52X

@Dumo, where did you get BIOS 1303 to play with for the M4E? Mind provide a link?

Thanks for the heads-up. If I will ever see a Costa Rica batch here at the local MC. They still have tons for L* batches in their display case. Seems like none one is buying anything. The same batch and SN# remains day after day.

Binning Sandy Bridge is extremely easy.

    - use HS fan with easy mounting
    - set Vcore to 1.55V
    - disable HT and 2 cores (to not make it overheat with crappy HSF)
    - increase multiplier

You just need to see the windows OS options, not actually boot into windows. If your CPU can show the different OS options, stability will just be function of Vcore and temperature. If it doesn't show the OS options, you will never get it stable anyways, so you might as well ditch the CPU.

Usually, it takes about 5 minutes to see if the CPU is good or not.

With some CPUs, you do have the issue that some multiplier is better than the other for stability. For instance, my current CPU can boot at 51x MAX (~ 5145MHz). When trying to run near this max speed, I have to use 49x instead of 50x multiplier because it's a lot more stable.

But, that's something you don't need to test. With BCLK adjustments, you'll never get 5200MHz going or so. Multiplier binning is the best way."
is this pretty much how everyone is doing it? How do you get the windows option to load up? I dont have windows OS options it just goes straight to windows splash screen
