Can't that be updated separately via a download? Or was that only something like Marvell or Jmicron firmware?
The Marvell 9128 option ROM/Firmware can be updated editing the BIOS file quite easily. It took me only four or five hours of "googleing"/reading on specialist forums to do it.

The Intel RAID option ROM is also a module within the BIOS file that can be substituted. However due to a limitation on the ASUS BIOS for the R3E and R3G it won't accept option ROMs bigger than 64K (which the newest Intel RAID option ROMs are), so is not something your average joe (like yours truly) can do.

At this point the only solution is for ASUS to do it.

As I said a few posts back the in the BIOS for the soon-to-be-released R3G BE it has been updated already. So, I don't know if the engineers have been too busy developing the BIOS for this new board and ironing out issues with the Sandy Bridge ones or they just don't give two monkeys and a flying about the "old" X58 boards anymore.
