Thanks mate for sharing but before I try your modded bios out I would like to ask you if your modded bios work without any problems and
as you have updated the ROM versions of both with onboard controllers, Intel and Marvell, can we still run the controllers in AHCI etc
without problems and the update doesn`t cause any speed problems etc?

Also I take it ones ASUS official release a new bios, it will probably result in the Intel RST Option ROM and Marvell 9123 RAID Option ROM
versions being put back to the default versions again?

Also could you please post another download link as the rapidshare link to your bios no longer seems to be working.

Upload to a File Hosting site like http://www.mediafire.com/

    Thanks for responding.

I have been running both intel and marvel controllers in AHCI mode with modded bios without any problems or performance loss. In the sense that I have not experienced any adverse negative affects. I must admit I did not perform any before and after benchmark comparisons.

In regards to the new official bios having options roms reverted back to older versions, I do not think this will be the case since in another thread an Asus support member has announced there will be a new R3E bios with updated Option ROMs. Hope it's soon

I'm sorry for the trouble but there is a 64k limitation with the intel rom and bios and I was unaware.

Not a serious problem just flash back to older bios. It's only not recognizing the controller nothing is wrong.

    Hi!

I have a problem with my Rampage 3 Extreme now.
To get it to post, i have to reset the bios, then it posts, if i as much as just enter the bios, save the settings, maybe change the full logo post to none save and exit, it will not post again before i reset the bios.

It have been running fine for about 4-5 months now.
Via ROC and the leds on the board it hangs at CPU Init.

    Any suggestions?

How do all of your power supply rails look and what power do you have? How is your cooling?

That is a good power supply but even good ones go bad. I would first start at checking the rails in the bios and then measuring them at the molex with a mutimeter.

I'm a bit late to the party, but I joined the ranks of you R3E owners today. It replaced my R2E which has been going strong for over a year.

Installed the EK-FC R3E and leak tested, looks good so far. The block is quite a restriction it seems (either that or its dumping a bit of heat into the loop) as my idle temps have increased from what they were with just the CPU and VGA in the loop in the previous setup. Load temps aren't too different though.

I'm running 0901 BIOS as that's what it shipped with, will have to read up on what's going on with them at this stage. Also have some things to discover and play around with like PMW freq, currently set it to 500KHz, but even at that level its allowing my CPU to run stable at lower vcore than the R2E. First impressions are I like it.

Some pics of getting it ready:

    Prepping the board:

This kind of shocked me. There appeared to be grass and debris on the stock thermal pad! It's also a hack job in terms of pad cutting precision. Nice QC asus.

    Block on the board

Now I'm ready to do the loop

Mosfets make lots of heat! You now have that heat load as well as your NB + SB heat in your loop!

It is perfectly normal. If you increase the PWM Freq from 500 to 1000, you will notice even more heat.

Do you have any clearance issue with the EK-FB-RE3 and your first PCIE x16 slot lock? Mine is very tight.
