ET6 on UD3R: "Auto load last save" loads phantom settings

Maybe it's been asked before, but I can't find it ...

Sometimes I set my BIOS overclock settings to a lower FSB speed or higher Vcore than I think the machine will run at, so that I can POST and get into the BIOS in case of a crash. (Note that when you make runtime changes under ET6, thay are not saved into the BIOS, unlike the action of the equivalent but almost-useless Asus AI Suite utility) Then I will set faster FSB/lower Vcore etc. at runtime using ET6. Sometimes I want ET6 to set things automatically at Windows boot time, and I have tried the "Auto load last save on next reboot" option in the right-click menu of the ET6 icon in the system tray.

However, I can't find where ET6 stores the data that it uses when it does the auto-restore. I have saved parameters under the default filename "profile.etf" and other names (on the D: partition, not C: ), but it restores settings from somewhere else that I may have saved many months ago, that are now way too fast for my now tired & aging CPU. Explorer search can't find any .etf files other than the ones I know about.

Where is ET6 getting these phantom settings? The registry? If so, where? Why aren't the settings it uses being updated when I do a save? Anyone ... ?

F4 Well that was good for SuperPi runs but I likes F9 a lot.

If your wanting to try F4 go with F4-4 and not the regular F4.

yea i use the regular F4 and not hicookies E8600 F4 superPi bios
but i use F$ mainly because it works fine and i dont have to always enable
usb mouse and keyboard support after loading optimal defaults.

I will try F4-4 when I've got time. The regular F4 doesn't seem to be performing as good as my favourite f9 bios. That's what I call magic:

Wanna know if there is some difference in OCing with different BIOS versions on EP45-UD3 rev.1? Currently i'm using F8.
I've installed some sinks on the VRM elements click but the one on the right (under the PSU when mobo installed in the case) was too big for my case, so i had to cut it off in half. Now it's only the low half which is on the VRM elements. For the chipset i use the stock cooling. Now i have the following questions: my CPU is Q6600 (very hot and high power consumption... likes the high vCore ) and the mobo is just 6-phase so how much vCore is safe for 24/7 using? I think that everything than 1.4 is getting too hot but i woud like to hear other suggestions. The other thing is the NB - it's getting very hot at only 1.16V, how much can i set in BIOS for safe using?

Try changing these settings (under DRAM Performance Control) :

    Code:
    (G)MCH Frequency Latch ---------------- : [400] change to 333
    System Memory Multiplier --------------- : [2.00D] change to 2.00B

if i go from 2.00D to 2.00B that wont get it closer to 1066mhz? will it?
i will run fine and pass all test at the 2.00D strap and mem running at 902mhz, but wont boot past giga logo screen any higher.

Memory speed with strap at 333 or 400 and Memory multiplier at 2.00B or 2.00D will be the same, eq. 902Mhz.

Set the strap (MCH Frequency Latch) at 333 and try the Multiplier at 2.40B, that will give you 1082Mhz.
I've always used the 333 strap, as it was harder achieving higher memory speeds when using the 400 strap.

well that didnt work. i looked in PC health and it show the DDR18v as only being 1.905v and in the settings i have it as 2.20v i increased it to 2.40v same thing happend so i increased it 1 step at a time up to 2.80v just before it went red. and then i couldnt get it to even go into bios settings.i had to take this mem out and put back in my gskill to get it to go into bios to change the volts back to 2.20v and im now running back at the only setting these sticks are working at. 2.00D at 902mhz. im half tempted to just clear cmos and start from the beginning. i need to find some sound settings for this mem and board and go from scratch. like a new build/
