I heard a rumour that there is a shortage of a TI (Texas Instrument) component, (DrMOS), this component is that fresh out of the factory that TI do not even have it listed on their books.
I would not be surprised if this is causing a shortage of stock, which in turn is making the prices higher. (And perhaps delaying the 69xx series cards).
