If we look at how bad the execution on Fermi part 1 with chips coming out without full fledged part & having excessive power consumption, i think nVidia does have some wiggle room to work upon. But that wiggle room is most likely smaller than what AMD have considering the new mArch approach & die size + power envelope vs performance leadership in this process node.

Judging the way nVidia aggressively matching Bart cards pricing structure by discounting the comparable cards of their own -even using the mammoth GF110 based GTX 470 against the relatively tiny Bart XT HD 6870, i'm sure they will adjust GTX 580 price accordingly with the way things unfold in the future.
