I bought several items from PTS.
Now I'm really pissed because no other stores sell to Brazilians that are traveling in USA.
Even Gary from sidewinder refused my last order since he got scammed by some country fellow citizens.
Jab Tech is not renewing its stocks either. Performance-Pcs accepts money orders only.

I wish Petra had sold its clients list to sidewinder than we could still make business. Gary only trusts old customers.

    Hey man,
Sorry to hear that. Try using international money order or TT with Gary. Might work.

the costs involved on money wire are prohibitive. I just bought more than $200 on blocks directly from EK because of sidewinder didn't take my order. Eddy did a great service, but I'll have to wait more to get the blocks and will probably pay import taxes. I always have some friend traveling to US that could bring this kind of item in their luggage and I would not have to pay international shipping and taxes.

So, I loose time and money, Sidewinder loose a costumer.

The issue with sidewinder was some guys around here calling their credit card issuer and lied about not receiving their packages. That way the credit card issuer blocked the payment and Sidewinder lost money.

Importing goods without paying taxes... against the law.

And I don't get how people "block" payment on there credit cards. In situations where I have had non legit purchases to my credit card there was nothing they could do.

It sounds like it depends on the card issuer. Ideally, if you call your credit card company and tell them a transaction on your statement wasn't properly authorized, they would launch an investigation to confirm that you're being truthful (ie. contacting the vendor, matching IPs, etc.) and potentially track down the people committing the fraud. Unfortunately, the assumption most issuers make these days is that a) someone got your credit card information and used it to make a purchase without your authorization or b) are easily convinced that the vendor is trying to scam the cardholder in some way so they reverse the charges. Great if you're a consumer with a legitimate issue caused by fraud carried out in your name. Very harmful to small - medium businesses who watch their margins shrink under chargeback fees and, potentially worse, an increased acquirer discount because all of a sudden they're deemed to be operating a "high risk" business.

are you any kind of specialist on Brazilian laws?

it is NOT against the LOCAL law to bring goodies in your baggage when traveling to USA. It is completely LEGAL. So, shut up, please

regarding the CC issue, if you didn't understand, don't bother.

I'm sorry to sound rude but I don't like posts like yours, sounding like "I'm the forum police, this is against the law..." bla bla bla.

As I told before, the scam was to order from sidewinder and after some weeks call the CC issuer complaining about not receiving the packages.
The issuer opened an investigation, Sidewinder show some documents, even pictures, of items shipped. The issuer took the consumer side and Sidewinder lost money.
This is what I understood from the facts Gary told me. He could always correct that if I'm wrong.

As for the bad mojo post, well I can understand being irate with a long running issue. But there really is no need to air it in a friendly, public forum that way unless there is no other option. From my dealings with Petras, I just cant imagine that you are at that point.

It's not just the lost money for the sale itself. That's what I'm trying to explain. If you order $100 worth of goods from a vendor, they ship the goods, and then you protest the charges with your credit card company and they take your side, the vendor loses more than the $100 from their merchant account. They get nailed with a chargeback fee and if they get too many chargebacks, the fee their acquirer charges to handle the transactions can go up.

I wouldn't blame any business owner for refusing to do business in any part of the world where a credit card company can get away with something like that. It's probably not a reflection on SWC's attitude towards its potential customers in South America.

Locally? Oh, come on, PTS was only local when you were in High School and/or on break. I drove parts 200 miles down to you most of the rest of the time (granted, it's not like I had to go out of my way or anything).

BTW, you gonna be up for the Edwards AFB open house show next year? If so, you're welcome to crash here.

Well you do have a point there, but there were more than a few occasions where being able to drive over and get something was nice. And I swear, those personal deliveries were absolutely ridiculous, haven't found better service anywhere and probably never will.

About the air show, I'd love to go and thank you for the offer, but that's just a little far in the future, damn them for skipping a year.

You going to go to Miramar this year?

I agree the first part but I have to disagree the second.

Sidewinders does not care about costumers on South America. They could find another payment method or charge for credit check like they used to do on some years ago.

I really don't care anymore, I'll spent my money on others stores.

Damn, sorry for necroing this thread, but ordered something from PTS on January 2, 2013, not knowing about this as I have not ordered anything from them for 3 or 4 years, but needed new tubing and a kill coil. This explaines why it has not arrived and no response to my email.

Oh well, will try and contact sidewinder.
