    Huh ?
I started from informal's post with Nehalem core being 60% larger than a K10.5 one. What has this to do with "extra die space to add a second thread" ?
I'm not comparing companies, I'm comparing design philosophies, few large cores or more smaller ones. Each with its own merits.

And the point you're missing is that from a production POV, they ended up with the same die size and different performance.

What you explained "perfectly" ( I assume it is the cache part ), has no logic whatsoever at a first glance. I know they have different densities, but I asked you to expand what you understand through "vastly different".

it is a pity when every news thread for discussing amd,
eventually becomes a pissing corner for intel fanboys.
i guess nothing will ever change.

I've PM'd savantu to stay out of the AMD threads.
I'm going to say it one more time: Stop the fanboy crap.
It's like some of you sit in wait for an opportunity to jump on someone.
Let it go or I'll let you go elsewhere.
one order from a site admin should be enough notice.
apparently it doesnt mean squat for some people here.

that probably doesnt mean squat for some people here.
Discussing about design choices is apparently a " pissing corner". Luckily we have you here to raise the signal-to-noise ratio. Good thing that you have excellent memory, btw.

it becomes tiresome to read posts when you ignore specific points as manicdan said.

besides youve been specifically told not to post on amd threads as a punishment for your previous offense.

I'm not ignoring his points, it could be that I did not understand him correctly ( I'm not a native E speaker ). At the same time, we could be talking about different things without realizing. That's why I asked for a clarification .

I had my posting privileges removed for 2 weeks because I went a too far in a specific thread. I certainly did not see that as "never post again in a thread with AMD in the title". I don't see what's the problem with participating in discussions in a civil manner and with arguments. As long as everything is civil we can discuss from politics to anything.

Last edit : what's with this quote anyway, creating pressure on the mods to act on someone ? It's not the first time someone who had no contribution whatsoever to the thread being discussed jumps in with this. That's stalking in its purest form.

the point is, you are not supposed to be here because every AMD thread you come into becomes an argument about how intel's is better than everything in the world.

in turn, other people who would rather discuss a topic here other than INTEL IS BETTER do not have an opportunity anymore.

How did this thread become derailed ? Certainly it was several pages before I posted. Am I now the punchbag for every post that goes off-topic in an AMD-Intel thread. Woah, I did not knew I has such an influence on people.
And where's the derailment anyway ? That people are discussing about core sizes ?? We could be discussing bra sizes for Booth babes representing IT companies at tech shows in an AMD/Intel thread. Just keep it civil. OTOH, there's a small bunch who are flamebaiting every time, making noise about the participants, without contributing anything and it becomes quite apparent and predictable.

And congrats, Manicdan abandoned the discussion.

Good post. I have been warned not to post in an AMD thread again; appeal to authority works well, apparently. According to the admin. even though we all know the truth, some people are not happy with it so I should stop. I've written an appeal and await results. Should punishment precede a response, this could be my last post here. I can just about hear the collective sigh of relief!

Ironically, this wuttz guy is from the AMDZONE where there is no tolerance for any opinion, except praising AMD and bashing the competiton (read: Intel). Punishment is swift - perma-ban. Notice how his attempt to spread fud about memory read and copy fell flat? How did he make a comeback? By coming out swinging with accusations of thread dumping and appealing to authority.

To MrMojoz and his cohort of thread stalkers who contribute nothing but whine about any kind of discussion that seems to paint anything, but AMD in a positive light - ALWAYS, the AMDZONE would be a good place for you to join. You can praise AMD all you want, because there AMD is GOD and Intel is evil.

    Careful with those.

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/38081877/ns/us_news/

ISLIP TERRACE, N.Y. — Police say a man lighting fireworks has blown off his arm at a party on New York's Long Island.

Suffolk County police say 36-year-old Eric Smith was using a 3-foot long metal tube to shoot mortars from the street near his Islip (EYE'-slip) Terrace home around 5:45 p.m. Saturday.

Police believe he leaned over the device to ignite it and didn't get out of the way before an explosive shot out of the launcher. His left arm was severed at the shoulder

Can we end with the off-topic and go back to actually discussing something ? We're not in a soap opera anyway.

such a joke... go into the "intel to release new cpus in q3" and you probably wont see "amd" one time... come in here and all it is is intel this intel that.. things that make you say hmmm... its really unfortunate because every amd thread turns this way, it never fails. im sure there are hella people like me who would love to post here/share opinions but just see it as a waste, as every thread is the same people ing about the same old . this is the only thing i dont like about XS

    edit:

and lol @ this quote below, hate to break it to you, but anything intel = off topic... this thread is about amd 1055t with 95w tdp. thats all if you want to talk about this specific cpu feel free.
