Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved
Remark : They call me Pro AsusSaaya yupp, I agree
i had some clips laying around from a thermalright hsf (si128 i think). needed some bending to fit, and works perfectly.

No that's one of the nice things with OC'ing an AMD. Select the strongest core('s) and up the multi there.... with which program have you OC'ed the CPU ?

I use option on my bios. I can choose speed my proc, The option is : All , Separate (every core). I use bios 2.13a

Hi guys, i sold my good i7 920 and I'm going to buy this Asrock motherboard. Since I'm going to use my 3x2 GB OCZ Reaper 1866 MHz modules, I'm wondering if any of the old Phenoms (555, 720 etc.) are going to be able to run my Ram at those speeds and higher on this mobo. I also need to know if there is going to be any performance drop if i use 3 modules instead of 2 or 4?
I was also wondering if the Crosshair IV is any better than this motherboard. I red the following review @ madshrimps.beand this one too and it seems that there is no reason to give the extra 150$ for the Asus, or is it?
Thanks Leeghoofd, and what about the memory, I know that it's integrated in the CPU, but I haven't seen anybody try higher memory speeds.

think you interepted my charts a bit wrongly... Taken no price into consideration you can't beat an FX based mobo (being it 790 or 890FX) with a GX...GX will always be slower clock for clock
If you take price into consideration this ASrock is really amasing... I still run it as my daily rig... pretty happy with it...

Hi guys, new in XS, my pleasure to be here.
I've got this mobo with a 1055T that does 3.8 stable at 1.3875V with a Mugen/Gentle Typhoon 1850 in push/pull...
I've got a couple questions about the mobo bios:
1. Why oh why does bios raise the cpu voltage on load? Tried bios 1.80 and 2.20. It always raises 0.05V on load, so from 1.3875 it goes to ~1.440V.
Could this be normal behaviour on 890GX boards?
2. Why CnQ is sometimes enabled effectively when on bios I disable it? This mainly happens, I think, on the first reboot after I disable CnQ on bios.
Just for the record and curiousity I got:
Antec Three Hundred + Basiq 550W Modular
Asrock 890GX Extreme3 + Mugen 2 rev.B push/pull with GT + MX-3
1055T CCBBE CB 1013CPDW
G.Skill Kit DIMM 4 GB DDR3-1600 F3-12800CL7D-4GBECO
MSI R5770-PMD1G 1GB
Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB SATA2
Replaced case fans with Xilence Red Wings
The CPU does 3794 (271x14) @ 1.3875V (+ 0.05 on load)
4Ghz@1.45 (1.5 on load) but freezes comp while running prime95 for 5 mins... maybe not the cpu and I need to tweak something
Memory does 1800 9-9-9-24-1T
5770 does 945/1380 for sure. GPU limit is 945, memory limit not found yet
It does 6.77pts on Cinebench 11.5 x64 at 3800
It idles (CPU temp, not core temps) at 31 and loads at 56 with prime95 and 59 with linx 0.6.4.
Gonna edit my signature![]()

Another thing guys, you can find bios version 2.13a here that lets you overclock each core separately, not tried it though.

It seems that answers to questions 1 and 2 are simply its the board, does the same thing on an 880G.

Has anyone figured out how to increase the NB voltage? (not CPU NB), I cant get high HTT on this board, with my 770T I could hit 295 no problem, with this board craps out at 274.
Regretting the purchase so far!

This is pretty normal for AsRock's boards in general, I have had several AsRocks over the years (starting with the Dual Sata II), they all overvolted a smidgen when the CPU was under load....
It is not a bad thing unless you are having thermal problems (.05 is a very small amount) as the CPU under stress draws more power naturally, IMHO, it actually helps with stability under 100% load....certainly better than vdroop...
Getting the 890 and 1090 soon...
Laterzzzz.........

OK, maybe it's not a bad idea, you save power this way, but you should have the choice to disable it in bios if you don't like it or if it doesn't work well for you.
I don't think 0.05 is a so small bump in voltage. You could have a cpu that isn't stable at 1.38V but it's stable at 1.41V, no need to go to 1.43V necessarily. In a board labeled "Extreme" you should have the control.
Bios 2.32 in pctreiber forums.
Another thing, what's the "AMD IO C-state" option in bios for?
