That is exactly my thinking as well, but Logue stated above that when he connects his 2nd power plug using the 4 pin his mobo does NOT boot. He has to remove the plug in order to boot normally, which is strange to me....

EDIT: I think Logue is commenting on the 4 pin Molex connector, but not sure now... lol

So just plug in one single 4 pin or one single 8 pin? Going to try and get this stable at 4GHZ.

    Try 8 pin first...

EDIT: Only add the 4 pin if you dont get a stable 4Ghz, then the extra 4 pin should come in handy...

I hate all these connectors everywhere on the face of the board, they should all be on the edge somewhere.. makes it hard to keep cable management looking good, lol...

Ya pretty pricey. I have seen some sweet deals on the C300 tho. Newegg.ca had the 256GB for $650 shipping included. That made them cheaper per GB than the LE.

yeah, the molex connector right above the fist pcie slot, not sure if that's only to use when there's more than 1 gfx card since the motherboard doesn't post with it connected + only 1 card..

Yeah well I am just now getting my board out of its lovely box and installing it, so I guess I will have to also investigate this later today. I only have the one 5870 as it pushes my 24" monitor max res on every game Ive thrown at it, so I see no reason for multiple cards. But, knowing a little bit about electronics it is difficult to understand why it wouldn't boot with this power connector installed. You would think the board/cards would like the extra bit of help regardless if it needs it or not, lol...

    me too....

im still awaiting one for the 930 just to get me started in the right direction. Thats what I did for my MaxIIForm and i was surprised that someone elses settings actually turned out to work perfectly for me. I only made a very few minor alterations and she was good to go for 24/7 use...

Oh boy, already found my first assembly line blunder. Seems QC did not check the cpu socket hold down plate, all four of the screws are serious loose and the top two were so loose that the screws could have just fallen off. Thankfully i have the tools needed to tighten it but not sure what spec to tighten it to. One things for sure people, as usual please inspect your board closely as many times these assembly lines talk to much to each other not paying attention to what they are doing. I tightened them just now and hopefully did not over tighten.

Can someone tell me if the provided NB fan/sink is needed?

If you have too high idle temps (read +/-60°C) you could try to replace the TIM and adding a washer to increase pressure... if temps are still too high install the fan thingy
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

Ok thanks for the advice, I have the perfect washers for it too. I heard removing the TIM on these sinks were difficult so I guess thats why you said "try", lol... I have a new Artic clean kit I can break out if need be.

    Thanks again...

Not quite sure how loose it is in your case, but they are meant to be a little loose and only tightens up once the CPU is secured in the socket.

lol, the metal socket holder, not sure what its called, the screws on the corners was stupidly loose, one turn on the top two screws and they came off. The metal plate on the back of the board was just dangling loosely, lol. Im talking about those four screws that are very visible on the corners of the socket, they have star shaped heads and screw into the metal plate on the back of the board. I cant believe they are meant to be loose when there would be absolutely no way to tighten them after installing a heatsink or waterblock, which would then completely cover the screw heads.

Oh well its fixed.... Almost there, a few more connections and a quick leak test before installing the block and I should be golden...

OK....so I just finished this build extremely happy so far i7-930.
Running Prime now core at 4.ghz with vcore at 1.328v this is reading from CPU-Z my temps are 79,78,76, 74 at load, and idle is 39c, 35,38, 36 realtemp.
H-50 single fan air being pulled in. HT is on I may try a little less vcore and see if it remains stable.

Did a quick Vantage run single GTX-480.

Nice job dionysus. I just finished this build as well, but only just now finishing the XP install, and I only needed to do that so I could sanitary eras my Vertex drives, which sadly yes I forgot to do before pulling the last motherboard, lol.

Going to download the Windows 7 drivers just in case they are newer than the ones on the disk, and do a fresh Install tonight. It will be weeks before I get to play around in the bios and oc this thing. Got to build my Sisters new rig now, lol...
