    Gigabyte X58A-UD3R/Extreme Discussion Thread

If you have 1 chime in and leave a screen shot with voltages using the easytune6.

My board needed 1.32 IOH Core before really responding to any overclocking every thing else came easy. Some peeps don't like windows based OCing utilities but I think easytune6 is one of the 1st that actually worked 4 me. I used it to finely tune my voltages once in windows to get a stable OC then just transfer the settings to the bios.

I can run 4.2 w/HT or 4.4 w/out HT and I have defiantly decided on the 4.4ghz HT off is where I like to be.

Any ways peace and can't wait to see every1's achievements.

Those are some very nice clocks for a "budget" board. What batch CPU are you using? Thanks.

This is all air. No lapping of HS or cpu bolted it in and ran with it. it boots at this speed right out of bios and never crashes during daily use. it is 100% stable. I just wish I could get HT on at 4.4ghz, ether this chip just won't do it or I haven't found the right combination of voltages and speeds to get it working.

This was a budget upgrade for me I spent a little over 600.00 at Micro Center on upgrade including the 920.....X58A-UD3R....6gb of OCZ DDR3 1600 and a Megahalems cpu cooler.

    920 200.00
    X58A-UD3R 219.00
    OCZ mem 137.00 after rebate
    Magahalem 57.00
    total 613.00

I now have my memory running at it's suggested timings of 8-8-8-24

And for every1 here is a word of advice don't leave QPI/VTT on auto mine was running away from me at the tune of 1.57 for about 12 hrs before I installed the easytune6 and seen it at 1.57v. I'm hoping that this didn't play a role in my cpu limits now. Most of the voltages showing on the easytune6 I have set on manual every thing else is on auto.

Here is a 3d mark 03 run with a slight over clock on the 5770 V/C

This socket will last quit a few years for me with just a few upgrades that should be very reasonably priced in the future. future upgrades could include 32nm 4core 8 thread affordable cpu say under 200.00 possibly a nvida dx11 card when they become a year or so old. I have a 9800GTX+ that will become the Physics card. A SATA 3 SSD hard drive. The best part is this rig is flippin fast none of these upgrades are even needed at this point and time and I can wait until everything is a year or so old and prices have came down.

This guide over at overclockers.com really helped with me and my move to the 1366 socket and is well worth the read http://www.overclockers.com/3-step-g...core-i3-i5-i7/

I have the same board. Thanks for the guide, I have been running a little trial and error over here, that really helps.

I am testing my max Bclk right now. It looks like 215 is going to be stable at 1.255V.

I think this is going to be my max 24/7. I was able to get 200x21 stable but at 1.4V and temps in the low 80s.

I haven't had time to fully "stress test" this yet, but it is very stable with what I have tried. I am folding on it 24/7 with no issues. I figure that's stress enough.

Hi, which BIOS version are you running and do you have any problems with the LLC? I just made a review here, and I'll be very happy if you can help me with the OC and post some more settings and results.

I am using F1 bios. If it ain't broke, don't fix it! LLC seems to work fine. I am using level 1 LLC

Just flashed to F4 BIOS, rer-ran stability tests, everything seems the same, tried 4.3Ghz, had to bump V core a lot to get stable, 1.425 now, seems to be a poor chip.
I only ran Prime95 for 12hours, because that is the longest this PC goes without being used for work.. so maybe this weekend I will do 24 hour test.

Still seems to be a great board

Just got one, probably fitting it tomorrow. Got a C0 920, though. It doesn't have the cold boot issues the X58-UD5 had does it?

I flashed to the F3 bios shortly after I got the board. I don't have an problems with LLC. Level2 will actually over volt when the cpu is under a load.
Your over clock looks great. I think you could help use by posting a screen shot w/voltages and a benchmark tease.

I am currently running a 920 D0 at 3.73 GHz (178 BCLK, x21 Multi, 1.10000 vCore, everything else on "Normal") on this board. I haven't installed EasyTune yet. can anyone confirm that when you set a voltage to "Normal" on this board it will only load the default voltage and not over-volt in some circumstances like when on "Auto"?

nice, thanks. my temps are a bit high at 4.01 GHz. ~78°C on load with vCore at 1.18750 using a Megahalem with OCZ Freeze. my ambient temperature has probably been between 10 and 15°C (50 and 60°F). also, has anyone used any PWM fans with the fan headers on this motherboard? as odd as this may sound, I've never used a PWM fan before and I was considering using them for intake and exhaust. do the EasyTune settings only work when in Windows or would they work in Linux as well after they have been set in Windows?

PWM Fan will work just fine, on the headers that support PWM. Don't use SYS_Fan 2 though for it, unless it is fixed in your BIOS it will be super slow.

Temps are warm that you mention for that voltage, you sure you have a good mount and not too much paste? i7 is warm though, but that seems fairly high for that voltage.

Not sure on your easytune question, likely only in windows though.
