Surely, should be able to do 228 or so with 103-106 PCIE, much more than that normally will require extreme temps.

Temps are warm that you mention for that voltage, you sure you have a good mount and not too much paste? i7 is warm though, but that seems fairly high for that voltage.

Not sure on your easytune question, likely only in windows though.
ahh, so that's why my AP-15 is only running at ~1000 RPM on SYS_FAN2. why is that header slower than the rest?

I am not sure, but it seems to be the case with almost all Gigabyte boards. Maybe the engineers think this is how it should be?

I see. this is my first Gigabyte board so I thought that I had a defective fan, good to know that is not the case. I wonder why they would do this on an enthusiast platform?

Unsure, but it has been like that since P35 or before. I have had a few boards/BIOS where it was normal per settings (Full or PWM) but most of the time it is not.

I'm going to try remounting my Megahalem this evening, possibly use a bit less paste. is everyone still using the "grain of rice" rule for TIM application?

I remounted my Megahalems with OCZ Freeze and right now my max temp. is 58°C at 3.61 GHz (172 BCLK, x21 Multi) on 1.05625 vCore (everything else set to "Normal") while running Linpack, which still seems like it's on the high side. I'm tempted to pull out the AS5 and see if that works any better, after the break-in period, of course. any other ideas? my Megahalem is mounted horizontally so it's blowing upward into my PSU and I have 1 AP-15 pushing air into it.

This is my first PC build and overclock. Has gone very well from much of the feedback and information on here. But I have two questions.

    1) I'm settting all my values in the BIOS but noticed that some seem different in Tune6 when I pull it up. Specifically the CPU Vcore, QPI/vtt Voltage & DRAM voltage. They are TARGET and POWER ON values, why are these different did it ignore my values?

    2) I'm noticing that SPEEDFAN and REAL TEMP are getting much different values. The Speedfan values seem too low so I'm ignoring them. I did the sensor test in REAL TEMP and it seems okay. Any comments on this?

    THANKS IN ADVANCE

swtrader: My readings with speedfan are extremely low too, although for the most part I can't get any good temp readings since none of them make sense lol. Real temp shows no temp (idle and max temp's within 1-2C of other readings) increase and a 8-10C difference between cores even with OC and multiple reseats of cooler. Everest reports the cpu doesn't break 47C even under linpack.....

    ---

Anyone know if there is a way to turn off the light on the "clear cmos" button on the back? It's really annoying since I sleep in the same room as this comp lol.

    p.s. I'll post a cpu-z etc. when I get the 930 where I want it

Small square of black electric tape should help you sleep

Tried that on my last board, it bleeds through like crazy lol. Might try multiple layers, if that's my best option, was hoping there would be a way to disable it.

Ahh sorry, only thing I could think of aside from shorting the switch LED Out if possible.

Put a big sticker over it?

Easy tune6 is an easy answer . the value on the left is the value that was set at the time of install (easy tune). If you would like the default values of your system you will have to uninstall easy tun6 and reset bios to default and then reinstall easy tune6.
This is what happened to me also and that's when I realized my QPI/VTT was way higher than I would have liked because it was on auto.

Install EasyTune6 before OCing and raising voltages.

with ET6 the values you put in the bios ,show up in the target section.the way ET6 is supposed to work
is after you boot up the value you setin bios shows up as target and if you close ET6,then start it again
the value in bios will show up in power on section.but ive had so many version that will not update the
power on section.most of the newer version will only show the voltage value at the time of the ET6 install
and will never change.i have mine set not to start on bootup and it still just shows the values i had at time
    of installing ET6.

sorry i just realized you were answering someone, didnt notice the quotes

Anyone else getting really high MB temps with this board? There's only a little bit of airflow in that area of my case but an idle of 46C just seems a bit much to me.

I've just got this board along with an i7 920 D0 and 3Gb kit of OCZ 1333, but just for work. I know it's nothing special but I'm looking to get a mild o/c with the stock cooling and get a feel for the i7 o/c architecture. So far I've managed 3.6GHz very nearly p95 stable on a notch over 1.1v (172x21) with LLC level 1 so slight vdroop to 1.088. I read that this could indicate a reasonable chip, but the temps even at that voltage are a little toasty! Red Maw, I seem to get v.high temps on the board in general too, but mine is in a very poor case with little airflow - (I know it's almost criminal). Looking forward to getting it under my h20 rig in a couple of months though. Will try to tweak voltages and post some screenies if I can find the time

That's what I was thinking, I'm itching to get it under my rig, but can't unless I buy alternative parts to swap it out for which is unlikely so I'll have to wait Looks good so far, but would like to know if I can push for some bclks soon.

I'll have a read through that guide shortly, hopefully I can pick up some hints and stretch it's legs a little.

Just in the middle of a new build with this board, is easytune6 the thing to use then? I've never done ocing with software before!

i would never use ET6 for Ocing.i use it to monitor voltages and for reference in screen shots
