Ram frequency must be exactly uncore clock / 2.
For example : if you want to run your RAM at 2Ghz, your uncore (uclk) have to run at 4Ghz....
I didn't found settings letting me running my i920 at 4Ghz uncore for the moment... But I'm running my i 920 @ 4Ghz, with my 3x2G ram at 1600Mhz, 7-7-7-20, and all is very stable, so I'm pretty happy. (Moreover, this board/cpu are made to play triple channel RAM modules.)

    hi dude
believe you are right after my attempts this morning, my mobo will not let me run the cpu@4ghx and the dual ram@2000mhz - does not like it. was able to get the ram @1900 8-8-8-24 - was insanely quick - under everest memory latency was 33.1 - was quick - could as you said only run cpu@3.8 i am sure its possible to push further with the right settings but you would have to be pretty knowledgeable to get the desired results.

brings me on to my next problem, i reverted back to my triple set as i like running more ram and also having the cpu@4.0 but it wont let me run as before??? same settings 1600mhz@ 8 8 8 24 bclk 200 x 20 multi - tried more vcore than before and it wont boot, its a bit unstable @ 3.8 1540 mhz ram
i am really puzzled as to why its doing this, looks like i might need to go to 3.6ghz for stability, any ideas would be much appreciated.

think i am going to update the bios to f10 and see if that helps.have a good day all

On my system, a too high Vcore makes my system getting 85/90 °C and BSOD. So I've found a stable config by reducing my VCore. For the RAM I know my GSkills need 1,65V. In the bios you only find Vdram 1,66 so choose it, the real voltage is a little under the bios value. And try relax your ram timings if you have problems. (even to 10-10-10-34) If with relaxed RAM timings you are not stable, so your pb is your CPU settings...

    hi Guys
believe running triple is better than dual, my mobo will not let me run the cpu@4ghx and the dual ram@2000mhz - does not like it. was able to get the ram @1900 8-8-8-24 - was insanely quick - under everest memory latency was 33.1 - was quick - could as you said only run cpu@3.8 i am sure its possible to push further with the right settings but you would have to be pretty knowledgeable to get the desired results.

    - FEW DAYS LATER-LOL-

    hi m8
I got the cpu reasonably stable@ 21x191- it seems to prefer the 21x multi - hates 20x200 surprisingly as i had it like this at first and it was fine for 1 week until i put the dual set in,was ok and managed to run thisset '1900mhz 8-8-8-24 but after removing it and reverting back to triple set, i cant get my 1600mhz 8-8-8-22 or my 20x 200 - how weird is that, since then i have been struggling, wish i had not bothered with the dual set to be honest.
I did updateto the f10 bios hoping for better, glad that i can run 21x191 but whats the deal with the ram, from 8-8-8-22 1600mhz 1.5v now i struggle with 9-9-9-27 1520@ 1.66v lol whats happened dude, any ideas would be great, so many bsod,???

    Burned Out Extreme

So my GA-X58-Extreme board just gave upon me. Sometimes My Graphic card fan would just spin up to 100% and the computer would not boot. And other times it booted windows and after a while in windows the Graphic card fan would just spin up to 100% and the screen would go black and nothing happened. But now I Know Why!!!

Seems more like the psu itself, since you also have some scorch marks on the other 3.3V lines (right side).

The PSU that failed so Miserable was the Seasonic M12 700W.

    hi everybody,
could anybody post some good/inspired bios settings for a 24/7 setup [i7-D0/ex-58_extreme/3x1g_Patriot-Viper]
    [only M.I.T. chapter]
I think that a reasonable 24/7 BCLK could be around 180...
    thanks

    Disable:
    • CPU Enhanced Halt (C1E)
    • C3/C6/C7 State Support
    • Virtualization Technology ---- for now, you can enable later once stable

Edit: How much higher did you increase your Vcore? I think at 4GHz, you might need ~1.22-1.25V.

Those cas timings seem a little too tight for 1600MHz.
Your QpiVtt voltage is too low for those timings too. Give a 1.3 to start with.
Try to get a stable the OC with a manual vcore and then you can experiment with the normal option.
Not sure about that 102 pci-e freq either.
Try disabling C1e and C3/c6/c7 states.
Try an uncore of 17 too.

just updated to bios F11 and 1 problem has popped up.

I have 4 HD's in the JMB controller configure as "port multiplier drives"
it was all working with the old bios, but the F11 bios now disables the GSATA 2/3 ports.

i found this out by booting a win7 dvd and launching a command prompt.

    then just went down the list - C: D: E: F: G: H: I: until i get to J: (i have 9 HDs)

J: gives a device not ready error, and that drive is plugged into the GSATA 2/3 sockets.

anyone had this problem with F11 ????

im just about to cmos reset after pulling out the power supply cable.

Update: fixed it. I cleared cmos, set all the other options first, bios turned pc off, i turned it back on and set up the GSATA ports as i have them, then powered down plugged the drives back in and turned back on and win7 detected them now.
Before it was giving an 07BSOD then an 09 BSOD.
    All good now.

HI. I have a quick question. I've been using bios F7a on EX58-UD5 and I would like to flash to bios F11. Can I just flash straight to F11 from F7a or would I need any other bios first? Thanks. I'm planning on upgrading the CPU after.

You should be able to flash directly to F11. Just be sure to follow this guide and you'll do just fine.
