And I can picture us attacking that world, because they'd never expect it.

Have you read the rest of the thread? It's a brand new manufacturing tech for Swiftech and the bent pins do not affect performance.
Yours is better than some of the other "horror-story" pictures that are posted in this thread.
If you still think it's horrible contact Swiftech or your point-of-sale.
At an $80 price point there should be a 0% chance of bent pins. No thanks.
Wezly i agree with all the guys complaining its a shame that a company like Swiftech has some great customer support and such bad QAS...i saw a line of bent pins inside mine and i posted and to be honest i will NOT open it and see inside, i dont wanna get mad with it...such a hughe effort to bring things to my country...
I have to thank Michelle for the great support and Gabe plz show this to the ppl at swiftech as theres lots of problems to be solved and improved.
Cheers

I should clarify by saying that I too am disappointed in the QA/QC and general design hurdles, but at least Swiftech took the time to determine that there is no performance decrease, and at least they ADMIT there are problems.
My only problem with the other posts was that it was made known in this thread that there are some manufacturing "blemishes" to say the least.

To determine the possible cause of the defects you should have some knowledge about how is made (or create), as did the Tiffon3 My initial concept was weakness in the wall.
In the case of the Swiftech Apogee XT can now give my opinion: When it comes to cross microchannels (with diameter less than 0.33mm and height exceeding 0.8-1.0mm) is very difficult because the CNC machine "does not feel the material weakness "..... I've never had commercial water block in my hands therefore i am unaware the height of these pins.
As an example my CPU prototype http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=243003, the initial concept was cross microchannel (only
in the center block) but i abandoned the idea becouse i had to make channels of more than 1.5 mm high.
I do not think that the blocks efficiency might get affected, the real problem is that a micro pin might detach itself from the base and may get stucked in the pump (spherical impeller).
another reason is that the CNC has hiccupsis a joke

Wez, was correct, but I decided to listen to the CEO of the company rather than a forum user, silly me
As correctly posted and shown here (http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...ducts_id=27037) according to what you said (Gabe) this is what should have been in the box but wasnt.
You also said that all I would need is a 1156 (or 775) back-plate, this is also incorrect
It is VERY clear that the Multi-mount replacement Hold-down plate for AMD/AM2,AM3 & Intel Socket 771 cannot be secured to this back-plate.

People ordering in the UK, need to be aware that even the etailers are not aware of these ongoings.
I requested permission to post correspondances I had via email with a member of staff at overclock.co.uk (not OcUK!!) from where my block was purchased.

Please Gabe, so other people are not placed in the same position as myself, would you please do your best to sort out the confusion that currently exists.Originally Posted by Overclock.co.uk response
I can fully understand whats is occuring, these are logistics problems, but as end users we should not have to deal with this!
It would be very much appreciated for the benefit of ALL here at Xtreme Systems to be specific in what users on socket 940 (AM2/AM3 etc) should have in their box to be able to successfully mount the Apogee XT
Something like this....
You should have
1/ Multi-mount replacement Hold-down plate for AMD/AM2,AM3 & Intel Socket 771
2/ Back-plate for AM2/AM3 motherboards
What should I personally do to resolve my current situation?
Should I email Michelle and point her to this thread?
and finally,
Really dont want to sound biased, these are my honest observations.
My Swiftech Storm was a fantastic waterblock, everything about it was executed to the highest standard.
Then I bought a Dteck Fuzion V2, impecable waterblock! Close to perfection, mounting, performance finish fantastic.
Now, Apogee XT, unfortunately, too many things seem to have gone wrong with this launch, from product availabilty, to quality control issues, to confusion amongst users and retailers alike.
I am not too pleased with the 'workmanship' of the inside of my block.
It is butchered! The cuts that were made in the centre of the block both vertical and horizontal axis, exactly where the inlet water would hit the block are bent, of differnet thickness and crossed
I really dont know what else to say.
It is not possible for me to recommend this block to anybody based on my experience.
I believe I did my utmost to not be in this position from the questions I have asked, but alas....................

Your baseplate looks perfect to me, have no idea what youre complaining about there.
Also I think you have misunderstood, Gabe replied saying the kit contains everything you need, not that the block package does. You need to ask swiftech separately for any mounting hardware over and above s775 and s1366, though I think the latest blocks are shipping with the 1156 backplate too. I thought Gabe said earlier in the thread that due to the low demand for AMD mounting kits they wouldnt be included with (and costs associated with this added to) every XT package. So yeah, you need to email Michelle to ask for the kit to be sent out to you separately.
That's how I understood it anyway, I could have got this all wrong myself - lol.
Hello old timer
Sorry you think I am 'complaining', thats is subjective, just a matter of opinion! I wouldnt say I was complaining, just expressing my personal thoughts.
As to 'our' understanding of the point in hand, if you read through the thread from about page 20, you will see that I couldnt make my question any clearer.

My question was VERY specific, I asked if anything extra was required other than what is included in the default packageOriginally Posted by gabe
Seeing that I was asking the question, one would expect somebody to answer, relative to the point of focus of the question, i.e. the 'default package'.
I took gabe answer to mean exactly that, i.e. the default pack would have everthing required, if by using tht word 'kit' gabe should have been specific.
Now THAT is my opinion
Please tell me how you would have worded it to make it more clearer

mongoled, the way you worded the question to Gabe left a lot to be desire for what you were actually trying to ask him.
The way you worded it, this is what it sounded like to a English speaking native: Does the AM2+/AM3 kit come with everything included?
This is what you should have asked: Does the block come with the AM2+/AM3 mounting kit?
The answer to the second question is no, if you look at Swiftech's website (great place to find lots of factual information regard Swiftech products btw), you would see all the options available for the XT.

Hmmmm, actually, my native language is English, not American English but British English.
Yes, I live in Cyprus, but had lived two thirds of my life in the UK.
My English has been good enough to get me through university with a BA/MSc, run a successful IT company and allow me to explore other business avenues.
Thanks for your post however, it has been of assistance

We have MAJOR confusion going on here.
Default package to me meant: default am2/am3 KIT.
This forum is meant to support, explain, elaborate upon things that are not documented on the web sites. As mentioned by others, our site clearly states how the Apogee XT is sold, and I ALWAYS assume that people who ask questions here already read that page, and want additional clarifications. Please let me know if anything on the product page is unclear , and I will make sure that it gets corrected.

Hi Gabe,
Long time Swfitech user here. I've recently ordered an Apogee XT and had it shipped here in the Philippines. Problem is I'm having this issue as seen on this pic below.
URL=http://img687.imageshack.us/i/img00435201001151243.jpg/][/URL]
I'm not able to mount the block correctly because of the 4 loose parts. The one on the left is the other bracket that came with the package. But I'm using an i7 board so I'd have to use the bracket on the right. The loose parts are supposed to be connected onto the backplate. Hope you can help me out with this.

Thanks for that information, it was a long time since the motherboard has been removed from the case, so I dont remember!
Does anyone know of a European etailer who stocks the AM2/AM3 Swiftech Apogee™ XT Multi-mount replacement Hold-down plate for AMD/AM2,AM3 & Intel Socket 771?
Sorry, I missed your post. No you dont sound like an ass. However I do, LOLOriginally Posted by Jamesrt2004
