    Tmpin2

I am just getting my proc up to speed and noticed that the temps are pretty good on everything with the cpu maxing at 63c which I dont think is too high for it. (is that too high?) Also the TMPIN2 reading from Hardware Monitor says it is 63c and I am unsure if that is too high as well. I do fold all the time when my pc is on so I hope you guys could let me know if those temps are too high or normal.

That's your friends problem. If you're using 'stock settings' most likly your volts are way off and MCH and CPU Ref are off causing unstable;lity and consequent reboots.

I would browse around some 100+ pages in the Official Gigabyte U3P thread to get your friend optimal templates.

Did you try to put your two stiks of ram to another two red slots on the mobo.I think that is a whimsical board.

I am trying to use Jor3lBR and Nugzo 's templates to get my q9650 on 4.4 stable

but i keep getting fatal error : final results was XXXXXXX, expected XXXXXXX under small fft in prime95 on 3cores

    why?

    thanks

I am very interested in using this thread. I have UD3P, Q9650, and 8GB PC8800.

I will be getting a new cooler and lapping my cpu soon, then I will post my clocks and temps and see if I can get 4.4!

    Hey guys,
I'm trying to stabilize my Q9650 on my EP45-UD3P v1.6. I am mostly stable but temps are a major issue for me. I have load temps in the 80-90C range (ouch!!!). I am waiting for my Megahalems to show up but until then, I'm stuck using this crappy Antec cooler, it was the only thing I could find locally that was 1/2way decent.

Here are the settings I'm playing with, can anybody help me out with which of these have the most effect on loaded temps? I am trying to shave off as much voltage as possible to keep the box from melting down.

    Q9650 @9x478 = 4.3ghz

    vCore 1.375
    cpu term 1.30
    cpu PLL 1.57
    cpu Ref .848
    MCH core 1.34
    MCH Ref .863
    MCH / DRAM 1.110

I think I read that some people are lowering their Vcore and upping the CPU term, but now I can't find that thread for some reason. Are there any way to adjust GTLs per-core on this mobo? There doesn't seem to be but maybe I have to use a custom bios?? Currently I'm using the FDa beta.
    cheers

you cant adjust the cpu gtl's per-core with this board.
and the only way i think to lower temps is to lower vcore.
might try seeing if raising the cpu term helps with this, also
try adjusting cpu/mch ref voltages to help in lowering vcore.

so when u say adjust cpu/mch ref volts, do you mean lower them or raise them? i mean, if I start lowering vcore, do I have to raise cpu ref, or should I be lowering it to keep the .65x or .63x ratio for example?

you have to find the optimal cpu ref for your cpu and same thing
with the mch ref for your OC.once you find the right combo maybe you
can lower the vcore.you might be there already.its trial and error, try lowering the cpu ref and then see if its
stable then try lowering vcore see if its stable so on and so on.

most Q9650/95500 + UD3P i've seen on rev 1.0 love 1,20VTT / .785CPU / .80MCH relation, so you set that and then just notch VTT to whatever is needed and let the other values change

in my case worked perfect on x9 multi but need .84 on the MCH for 8,5multi

    hope this helps

ok, just want to get this straight-- so let's say I'm prime stable at 1.375 with 0.848 vref(cpu). Are u saying I should start by lowering vRef but keep vCore at 1.375? I am trying to follow what you're saying about lowering the vRef but not sure if u mean lower them both together (vCore + Ref) or just adjust the vref by itself and keep vCore fixed. In the bios, as soon as you touch CPU term, the vRefs start changing on their own. I don't even know what "CPU term" really represents. Googled for hours today to try to find the true meaning and came up basically empty. Man, overclocking quad's on p45 = huge pain in the ar$e

Hey guys, just found this thread and I was wondering a few things...

I have a Q6700 (searched for that term in this thread but got no results ) and am having trouble getting it stable. I had a UD3R and ran 3.33GHz daily (thought that was pretty good until reading this thread :p) and got to 3.5GHz long enough for a 3DMark Vantage run with all voltage settings set to AUTO. Then I decided to go ATi + PhysX and sold the UD3R for a UD3P. Now, I am having trouble with stability on anything over 3.0GHz. I learned that I must've been lucky using all AUTO settings, so I changed the voltages myself to the values that were already suggested and upped the CPU VCore but I get Overvoltage/Overclock errors often.

Could my board be bad? I was so impressed by how stable the UD3R was out of the box, that I'm considering getting one again and ditching the dual GFX card idea. All my components are in my sig and if I can answer anything just ask.

Also, can I just plug in some of the settings that some of you are using, or do I need a successful set of Q6700 numbers?

Is it bad that I'm using 4 sticks of RAM?

My temps (right now) for my 4 cores are 45 44 38 42, and I've got Firefox and Windows Media Center (HDTV) open, and the room is somewhat warm (thanks to the computer and HDTV projector). GFX cards are at 58* C each.

    HALP!

I say you get as high as possible by just setting your CPU voltage and MCH voltage and memory voltage. Then start trying to find the sweet spots for your other settings one at a time.

Then start moving up overclock wise once you see what settings your mother board likes. This should give you an idea roughly of where your motherboard likes its settings. You will have to tweak everything again but, you will be better off knowing roughly where to set everything.

cpu term is vtt.the ref tracks with the changing of vtt.here is a link that explains how it works.
    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...postcount=1157

what i mean about changing ref is try lowering it and then see if it is still prime95 stable.if so then see if your able to lower the vcore any.if so the thats good,if not try lowering the ref again or raising it.its a lot of work but if you want the most out of your components you need to know how they work.
just like what andressergio when using the 8.5 multiplier he needs a different mch ref 0.84v instead of 0.80v.

so when you cpu term(vtt) 1.20v in bios, then set cpu ref to 0.785v and mch to 0.80v now go back to cpu term(vtt) and raise it to 1.36v and the cpu and mch ref should change to 0.886v and 0.901v.see how they track?
