Yup I know that...only reason I bought the x48 board is because it was cheap and I needed it quickly. P45 boards in the UK are stupidly priced

What cpu termination do you call safe for dailly use? Is 1.46 too much? Need your answer. This is on a Q9550 @ 4250 + Gigabyte EP45-UD3P.

I find 1.46 FSB term too much for 24/7 use, but each will set his own green or safe zone... I would stick with sub 1.4... if that means a lower OC, so be it... there's not much difference anyway in a 4 or 4.2Ghz CPU anyway for daily usage... Question as always is , does it kill ya CPU ? who knows :p

Is it normal that in any BIOS the UD3P 'lags' the lower you scroll on the M.I.T screen? Especially on the RAM voltages the selecting and setting lags and I'm not talking short lags but up to a second to two?

I'm asking because I find it annoying and I can't seem to set any vDIMM above 2.16 without having the system not booting or being extremely unstable (have tried a mass of vMCH etc. settings to stabilize). The memory (4x1GB D9GMH) just won't run >DDR2-1150.

    Thanks for the input.

The lag happens to me as wel, seems to be a BIOS glitch but it is ignorable as it isn't affecting anything. You are having issues because your memory reference isn't set right is my guess. My memory doesn't like anything over
.80 for it's reference voltage. This board is very tricky to get a handle on but, once you start feeling it out it becomes easier. Start with your base voltages, cpu voltage, mch voltage, memory voltage get that stable as can be,,,, then start back at the top with the CPU voltage reference, then MCH reference, then memory reference, then back up to the top and work your way down through the other references.

Each time you change one setting check for stability and find the best spot for the said voltage being tweaked then move on to the next. I have posted my settings here before and not much has changed for me setting wise since then so you can look for that post and try to go off of it losely, because every CPU is different. This board does not, like it's settings being set all at once I can tell you that. You have to go with the three base voltages then go from there one by one. It is the only way I was able to get mine stable. Hope that helps. I posted a video on youtube of my system / overclock, not that it will help you here with this issue but, I did a good job and would like to brag about it / show people my work .

I really really really miss the P45 chipset....looking forward to some 500fsb+ stable clocks with 2ghz+ ram

Are the bios option on the EP45C-UD3R the same as it's EP45 and EP45T counterparts?
I'm thinking of picking up a new GA-EP45C-UD3R since I can't find any GA-EP45T-UD3R or P's available anywhere. And I don't want the UD3LR for home like I do work, the mobo cooling just isn't as good since it lacks some heatsinks. This will be to replace my Home PC mobo GA-EP45-UD3R. I'm finding the P45 DDR3 boards alot easier to overclock and it just feels more responsive than my DDR2 board. I'll take the my DDR2 board and either sell it or through all my spare parts together, by a new E6300 CPU and build the wife here own PC to use.

About my screens, I change the ram settings to 48, 5,5,15

Where is the option to save on a floppy the bios settings ?

I still haven't had a chance to overclock mine (). I managed to get as far as getting the OS, drivers and AV installed, and that was it! I've just had too much going on at the homestead.
    Now I've gone and bought a P55 UD4P!

I believe it is F11 key to save settings and F12 to load them.

My old EP45T-UD3R's VRM's fried recently, got a replacement plus a new Q9650 Not the best VID as you can see from the pic below, but still a decent clocker, and stays cool on my old trusty true. (sold my old watercooling loop to get this chip).

how @ 467FSB you only need 1.200 vNB?

anyone know of which waterblocks will fit the mosfets, NB, and SB? it looks like EK NB/SB 5 and S-MAX will fit the NB, and EK NB/SB 1 will fit the SB. can anyone confirm this? what about the mosfets?

I don't know mate, anything above that and it just makes the CPU more unstable of course at higher clocks i will need more. But it's always good to find the sweet spot for MCH voltage at a given clock At 475FSB 1.22v is the sweet spot for me.

P45 & 45nm tends to need less MCH voltage anyway. Either that or i've got an awesome board

Most probably it is my board. I was able to pass 8hours of blend at 450x9 with 1.10vnb

    Just a little quick test:

That's with a single 4890 @ 1000/1200 clocks. (have to put fan to 100% to be able to pass)

Isit just me, or is running small prime with LLC enabled irrevelant? I was able to run it for an hour with the vcore i'm able to boot windows at. But when i run large FFT's it fails almost immediately until i raise vcore (raising MCH or VTT didn't make any difference). I found large FFT's the best test for CPU stability, if that makes sense.

Oztopher, did you buy a replacment or was it an RMA? I can't seem to find any new GA-EP45T-UD3R or UD3p that aren't way overpriced. I've noticed that my P45 DDR3 boards needs alot less volts for VTT and MCH than my P45 DDR2 board, especially with 2x2 GB RAM and 500 FSB. vCore and Ref volts seem to be the same.

I managed to obtain what i wanted with 3 : 5 FSB : DDR Ratio. Was not this a suposed FSB : DDR bug ? Has P45 chipset (regardless if it's on gigabyte or other manufacturer) any FSB : DDR Ratio BUG ?

Yeah 3:5 is supposed to be bugged, I think it really comes out to be 2:3.

Hi bluestang, i got my board from ocuk as a b grade. Had same experience as you, couldn't find the damn board anywhere ! It was slightly overpriced at £136, and could've got a DDR2 UD3P for £110 at scan, but i was looking forward too much to clock my RAM. Not like i was short of money either...

Haven't had any experience with the DDR2 boards so i couldn't say whether or not these clock at lower volts. But i just found out the reason why i was able to get my MCH so low, it's because i had MCH ref set to 0.80 (easytune)... When i put it back to 0.760 i could go higher on the voltage (1.24v for 467fsb instead of 1.20) and get a bit lower on my vcore.
