Retail Q9650 Overclocking Thread

In my experience, even though not perfect, CPU's are a lot flatter than heatsinks/blocks. Also as you said, a block is a lot cheaper than a Q9650. If I were you, I'd try lapping the block at least a small amount, before lapping the cpu.

Thanks man, i will give it a shot and see what happens. Lapping kit should be here today, so we will see how it goes.

Davit, just lower vtt to 1.20v in bios, set ref's, then raise vtt back up. no need to load defaults.

No luck so far. I forgot to do my screens, but at 4.5 I am keep on failing prime,, most I got was 1.5hrs... I bumped the mch to around 1.44 and vtt to 1.36 while vcore is at 1.525... gonna play around a bit more with it. Maybe raise mch to 1.46 and vtt to 1.40...
