06 is actually quite hard to pass, atleast on my cpu's. The latest F9 bios's works great for me.
Yep, Bex nice low vcore for that.
And Sniper that is one of the coolest running cpus I have seen esp 4.75 prime run with low 70s at that vcore. And nice low vcore as well on 4.4.
You guys are making me want to buy a new chip just to play with.

I was actually suprised it needed that much vcore at 4746. Had several runs at lower vcore fail at anything from 30min to one at 7 hours.
I also think that cpu-z is underreporting the vcore on ud5/extreme. When I compare vcore/temp on this extreme and my DFI T3eH8, cpu-z shows much higher vcore on the DFI, event if oc and temps are equal.
Mine scales about .03v below yours, 4.4 at 1.34 prime stable, 4.5 at 1.38, but to bench 4.75 like chess test which loads all 8 cores like prime, I need 1.5vcore, so 1.45 is pretty good for prime stable at that. Scaling goes to crap on mine between 4.6 and 4.7.
I actually checked both my wifes board and mine few months ago with fluke multimeter (after killing 2 sticks ddr3 in 2 separate batches of ram running at stock settings), both x58 extremes, her vdimm, vcore is slightly above board sensors (which cpuz reads) and mine was slightly below, but both very close...somewhere had it written down but was a few months ago. But even within same brand name, same board, there will be some small variability...components being components.
Ok, thanks, maybe the DFI is wrong. The 4746 run was with HT off, max I'v done so far with 8 cores is 4.6 at 1.408.

Can't get 3D Mark to finish.... it stops working on the CPU test....
Really not sure what I need to change to get this stable. If I increase the CPU voltage it BSOD's, QPI increase and it BSOD's, increase PCI-E to 104 or with voltage increased it doesn't boot or boots to loading then black screens....

Edit: At Bex, I need ~1.41 vcore cpuz load to bench 4600 3D, even though I can boot to 4600 with 1.3x vcore . If LLC was disabled that is probably around 1.46v core in bios, along with 1.36 qpi/vtt. Also since your ram will be OCed (assuming 1600mhz may be wrong though) you might need to bump up dram v 1.68 or so, or not. Also I would run cpu clock drive and pcie express at stock values, you have them undervolted (you have clear "cmos values" instead of "load optimal settings" values). I never tried benching with higher pcie mhz, since it makes mine less stable, but I dont use higher bclk since i have higher multi, so have to defer to those with i920 on that one.
My i950 on GB ex58 does not like ioh volts or cpu Pll. My i940 seemed to do better with increasing them, but my i950 all they do is cause instability. Guess just one of those chip to chip variables, or mobo to mobo variables. I was able to walk down vcore needed to get 5ghz validated on water with 18C ambients (computer rad near a/c vent) to 1.58. Before it was very unstable at even 1.63 using higher than stock ioh/cpu pll. But spi still wasnt happening, need ln2 for that.

Nice rge, never got 5GHz with mine. Highest I'v been is 4810 SP1M on the DFI.
Did a quick LinX run to show that it needs lover vcore (~0.03v) than 8 hours prime. Temps not comparable, this run has higher ambient(23), vtt, mem and uncore.

Bluntsmoker or anyone with same setup, have you managed to run the dominators higher than 1600MHz?
I'm currently on these settings, any suggestion on how to achive 10*180 is welcome.

I m perfectly fine @3.8 and dont need to get any higher, i just dont feel good about running the sticks @1440 that's below factoy defaults... :/
Is it possible to go 1800MHz (10x180) with lower timings maybe like 9-9-9-24 ?
These are the results i get with the above settings under load...

LoL!!
You weirdo!!! :P
I love my hardware, but not in that kinda way!
Bex, have you got waterblocks on your mobo?
Got any pics so I can see how it looks?
@Javanese, mate, I have tried to get my Dominators to run faster than 1600MHz, but they just don't want to play with me at all..
I think I had them up to 1680MHz, but with loose timings, so it was a pointless exercise tbh.
However, at 1600MHz I can tighten the timings up a little to 8-7-7-21-1T.
I have v3.1, I have talked to others who have v3.2 Dominators, and they managed to get nice clocks out of theirs..
TBH though mate, I haven't really tried to push anymore than 1.65v VDimm through mine because of that dumb Intel warning thing, even though I see folk on here pushing quite a bit more than 1.65v, I am to scared incase something bad happens...
But supposedly if you keep the distance between QPI and VDimm to 0.5v it is safe enough.
I recon if you were to go higher on VDimm you could probably get nice clocks out of them..
Hi mate,
Can you explain to me what those CPu/IOH Clock Skews actually do?
I have been experimenting with CPU Clock Skew, I currently have it set to 100ps, and it has allowed me to drop my Vcore down a couple of increments, and also I can now run my Vtt at 1.215v.
I tested my o/c in the past running these voltages before I had adjusted the clock skew, and it would BSOD after the 2nd pass of LinX before, but someone suggested trying 100ps CPU clock skew, so I did, and now it is Prime stable (8hours) and LinX stable to, I have been running with these lower voltages for about 5 days now I think it is, and it has been solid.
But I would really like to know what these settings do exactly, and how I can use them to gain higher clocks that are stable.
Bex, have you tried setting CPU Clock Drive to 900mV, and PCIe Clock Drive to 800mV, also try setting Performance Enhance to Standard, Raise QPI/Vtt to 1.335v, and you might also want to try IOH Core @ 1.160v and QPI PLL at 1.160v.
I have been playing with that CPU Clock Skew setting as well, and it seems to have allowed me to use lower Vcore and Vtt than I could previously, I have CPU Clock Skew set to 100ps.
I'm not sure what either clock drive or skew actually does, but they do help with high bclk on my mb. The two W3520 I have tested in this mb reacts quite differently on the skew values, one likes alot, the other none.
When trying to reach high bclk, I get a kind of woodoo feeling adjusting the drive/skew values. Its hard seeing a direct effekt of changes made to theese values, so its more of a feel for what values worked best when I reached a new level of bclk/stability.
Hicookie or other people here may know more on this though.
Haha. Before you call your OC lame, just take a moment to think about those of us who are unlucky enough to still be stuck with C0's. Mine needs 1.35v in windows to boot at ~4.1GHz, and 1.2v to boot with 3.68GHz. I don't consider your oc to be lame at all.
Also before anyone laughs at me for owning a 940, it turned up on my doorstep when I was expecting a 920 and after only paying for a 920. I thought I had hit the jackpot, how wrong I was.

Thanx Blunt.
In order to run memory @1600, anyone knows the advantages/disadvantages* of running the cpu @19x200=3800MHz as opposed to 21*180=3780MHz?
(*not counting the idle speed @12*200 instead of 12*180 as a big disadvantage)
Where do you think i might need more power in order to achive this?

I would do as Johnny suggested, sell the 940 on to someone and use the cash to get a D0 920.
@javanese, why don't you try for 4GHz mate?
Seems to be the target for the majority of i920 users I know.
Most D0's will do 4GHz without breaking a sweat, though there are still the odd chip that can't do 4GHz..
The one that I had before my current one was only able to do 3.8GHz, and I have talked to several guys on OcUK forums that can't do 4GHz as well, but like I said, the majority of them can do it no problem at all.
