If you had spent the last 3 months with a system, continuously testing it, buying a new mobo, RAM, PSU, and doing all the testing I had done with the hardware I had at hand, yes you would send your chip back..
Hell, I even contacted Gigabyte and Intel regarding this matter, and they both suggested that it was the processors IMC that was flaky...
I tested the chip on 2 mobos, with 2 sets of RAM, 3 GPU's, mutliple HDD's and OS'es, and every hardware config I tested gave me the exact same results.. I was at my wits end with the system, and the ONLY piece of hardware that hadn't changed was the CPU...
I had tried reseating the HSF a few times, but I never for the life of me suspected the mounting bracket to be the cause of 2GB of RAM not showing up!!
I mean, it sounds retarded to even think that a plastic shroud that is screwed through the mobo could be the cause of a problem like this..
I don't think I am the only person that thinks it is a really strange fault tbh..
So you are trying to tell me that 46c idle temps at stock frequency is normal?
And this is with a TRUE in Push/Pull config.. the last chip idled at 36c with an old Zalman 9700NT, and when the last chip was clocked to 4GHz the idle temps were only 2c higher than this new chip runs at stock!!!
This isn't normal imo...
