Sounds like an OS issue to me, like you are running 32bit or you have the ram limited with a boot up switch.
    LoL.. OS issue!!!

Someone clearly hasn't been following this thread, because if you had read my previous posts here you would know that this isn't an OS problem!!!

This is just a bug with CPU-Z obviously, and also the Vista Basic Information screen displays 6GB, for some reason, these apps know that I have 3 x 2GB modules installed on my mobo, but if I check the BIOS, POST screen, and the Performance tab in Task Manager these all tell me that there is only 4GB being detected... however, the very latest version of CPU-Z (1.52) it only sees 4GB.. check this screenie to see the latest CPU-Z reporting 4GB, also notice how the new version also lowers the CPU frequency when speedstep starts working.. 1.51 didn't seem to lower the clock frequency like this...

Also, the F7 BIOS for the UD5 picks up the RAM timings as well, but the Standard CMOS Features screen only says that there is 4GB usable...

When I flashed the BIOS to F8d and F8f, both of these BIOS'es wouldn't show the timings for the stick of RAM in the first white slot, it said N/A beside each setting...

My problem is definitely hardware related, the amount of time and money I have spent problem solving this rig to try and trace the route of this issue is insane!!!

I am 110% positive the IMC on my processor is shot.. I sent an e-mail to Intel support team, and explained everything that I have done in regards to testing my hardware with multiple mobos, sets of RAM, graphics cards, PSU's, HDD's etc etc, and how the only piece of hardware that hasn't changed throughout all of my testing was the CPU, they also agreed that the problems lie within the CPU...

I have an RMA number for the processor, but I was going to hold off sending it back until I got my Fiancee's i920 to complete her new PC, but after getting the reply back from Intel, I am just going to ship the CPU off tommorow, as I am quite confident when the techs test it, they will experience the same problem as me...

I will post back in this thread as soon as I find out what happens when I return my CPU...

There really is nothing to it tbh... Whatever you do though, don't use the Windows based Flash Utility @BIOS.. I have used this method in the past, but I have been advised by loads of people that it isn't a good idea to flash with this software, and you are much better using QFlash instead...

    Hope this helps you out...
I am planning to use the f8f BIOS, so basically all I need to do is put the "EX58UD5.f8f" onto my Flash drive and boot from it. I thought I have to put something else other than EX58UD5.f8f. Because on tweaktown forum there is a guide how to flash using Qflash. And that guide is totally different than what you said; however, yours and the Gigabyte PDF guide are pretty much the same.

Blunt - An odd thing I notice in CPUZ is that it only reports 4gb yet it 'claims' to be using triple channel...WTF?

Nah man, you don't boot from the USB pen drive, you just copy the BIOS file onto the pen drive, and then restart your system, and either enter the BIOS and then press F8, or just press the End key on the keyboard to boot into QFlash utility, then you just browse to the BIOS file on the flash drive and follow the onscreen instructions in QFlash...

It is as simple as that!

@Johnny, I never even noticed that until you mentioned it!!!

    That is really strange...

    ::edit::

I actually have a question myself about BIOS flashing, in QFlash do I have "Keep DMI Data" set to Enabled or Disabled?

I have always left it Enabled when I have flashed my BIOS, but maybe I have been doing it wrong???

That does seem odd, i kinda wonder what the Everest/Sandra bandwidth scores with 4GB 'triple' channel..

Anyway, with my lock ups its deffo when idle, happens with speedstep/c1e off or/and on, (also made sure Vista's/7's min freq was set at 100%) and ive been looking through the event viewer and get the below moments before lock up (i wonder if its related)

    np man,

I went ahead and tried disabling Keep DMI Data when I flashed my BIOS, and my PC is still working, so I guess it doesn't matter whether you disable or enable this option when flashing the BIOS...

I don't know what it actually did by disabling it, but nothing bad happened!!

Have you flashed your BIOS now 123456iambelial??

Grrrr, the latest beta BIOS for the UD4P (F9d) won't let me use my keyboard during the OS Boot Screen. I even made sure to 'Enable' Keyboard USB Support (or whatever it's called).

Yes same here, F9d is buggy with USB keyboards, same with the latest UD5 F8f

I went to Gigabyte website, but they have 3 separated drivers(audia, chipset and lan)
Did you get yours on Gigabyte website?

I just use the drivers from the CD that came with the mobo...

I did receive a link from a guy at Gigabyte for a newer chipset driver than the one on the CD, but I don't use that driver anymore.. here is the link:

    http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/M...ProductID=2958

@SimpleTECH, when I tried out the F8f BIOS for my UD5, I wasn't able to use my keyboard neither.. well, I could enter the BIOS, but whenever my system reset itself, or didn't shutdown properly, when the screen that comes up asking if you wanted to boot into safe mode, or start windows normally, I was unable to choose the option I wanted, and I had to let the timer countdown before I could enter the OS...

It is really annoying, because on F7 BIOS my keyboard works fine, but the PWM fan control doesn't work so the fan on my cooler runs at full speed all the time, but on the F8f BIOS PWM fan control works perfectly, but my keyboard doesn't work after the system POSTs..

hey i just flashed to f8f bios for ud5 and i am using 19x cpu multi but i have turbo on but im still only getting a 19x multi when booted into windows , why arnt i getting my 21x multi ?

i been stuffing around with it and if i pick x20 multi i get turbo and 21x multi, if i pick x19 multi i dont get turbo and stuck with x19 multi im still on my i7 920 CO , i was using bios f4k before and even just using x19 multi with turbo it gave me x21 multi , i got a i7 920 DO batch 3849B018 on its way, but i thought id flash to f8f as i got a ocz blade 6gb 2000mhz kit and was having some issues with f4k after i installed the memory, but im sure memory is ok because i already ran memtest for 2 hours @ 2000mhz

so whats the story with f8f dont we get turbo if we dont pick x20 multi ?

edit...fook me ! i just tried a few different bios versions over last few hours, i tried bios f6e by qflash and still i wasnt getting 21x multi with turbo on if the 19x multi was set, so i went back to qflash back to an earlyer bios f4k and qflash told me that it was incorrect bios image so i tried another bios version, same thing over and over again "incorrect bios image", so i start to panic and think its f*&^$d- RMA time !

so i was trying to corrupt the bios so i can boot from the back up bios but it wouldnt , it would still log into windows just wouldnt let me flash bios'

anyway i thought last resort and used @bios to update over internet in windows and it worked, so im on f7 now, went back into bios checked to see if qflash worked and it did

not only that now i oc'd and the 21x multi is working with the 19x multi and turbo on.... so wtf ?

i been stuffing around with it and if i pick x20 multi i get turbo and 21x multi, if i pick x19 multi i dont get turbo and stuck with x19 multi im still on my i7 920 CO , i was using bios f4k before and even just using x19 multi with turbo it gave me x21 multi , i got a i7 920 DO batch 3849B018 on its way, but i thought id flash to f8f as i got a ocz blade 6gb 2000mhz kit and was having some issues with f4k after i installed the memory, but im sure memory is ok because i already ran memtest for 2 hours @ 2000mhz

so whats the story with f8f dont we get turbo if we dont pick x20 multi ?

edit...fook me ! i just tried a few different bios versions over last few hours, i tried bios f6e by qflash and still i wasnt getting 21x multi with turbo on if the 19x multi was set, so i went back to qflash back to an earlyer bios f4k and qflash told me that it was incorrect bios image so i tried another bios version, same thing over and over again "incorrect bios image", so i start to panic and think its f*&^$d- RMA time !

so i was trying to corrupt the bios so i can boot from the back up bios but it wouldnt , it would still log into windows just wouldnt let me flash bios'

anyway i thought last resort and used @bios to update over internet in windows and it worked, so im on f7 now, went back into bios checked to see if qflash worked and it did

not only that now i oc'd and the 21x multi is working with the 19x multi and turbo on.... so wtf ?

No offense, but Linx isn't the be-all and end-all test for i7

EDIT: For all you guys saying that you're stable just cause you can run Linx - go run HyperPI 32M 16 threads and I'm betting 60-70% of you will fail, Lynx is good for initial assesment, only when HyperPI 32M 16t completes without any error you can say your system is stable imo. And it takes shorter than 250 passes Lynx or 10 passes for that matter
I passed both LinX (all mem) and HyperPi 32m with 16threads.....so I guess pretty stable 3.8ghz - 1.15v (1.12v under load)
