I have the case here with me and I can tell you it won't fit. A 5.25" bay drive is actually wider than 5.25" it's almost 6" wide.
Just a thought. Now we know. How far would it extend past the plane of the side panel? My thinking here is you could cut out something in the sidepanel for it and it could be like a visual indicator - assuming there's still enough room for the fittings and tubings.
