Looking for a good PSU to upgrade into my Lian Li A05BN case. I calculated I have 446mm from where the PSU mounts in the front to the back plate. I'm looking to install the biggest radiator I can next to the PSU so the depth of the PSU and radiator can't exceed 446mm. The case has extra width so having the radiator and PSU touching each other won't mess up the PSU backplate or cabling elsewhere in the case.
Modular isn't necessary, as I have 2.5" on the other side of the HDD bay to hide wires. In fact, I'm thinking about fabricating some false bottom plate to hide all the cabling for when I install a window.
Here's a picture so I can better explain what I want.
For references to the picture above, the PSU (as for the brand of PSU - don't ask, don't tell is all I'm saying here) measeures 140mm which leaves 306mm left in the picture. The radiator I want (an XSPC RX250) has a 286mm depth, so that limits my PSU at 160mm exactly.
In regards to how the PSU is cooled, I prefer beefier components & 80mm fans than a 120mm fan. This is especially true as my case's designed airflow is back to front. Unfourtnately, the most powerful PC Power & Cooling PSU that fits is the 150mm TurboCool 860W. whateve PSU I get, I'd like to cut out the top plate, flip it upside down, and draw air from underneath the case- I'd mod a 120mm fan filter (and add a 10mm height fan if necessary).
As for the components I'll be hooking up, I'll probably never go SLI on this motherboard or even case, but I will eventually be doing watercooling (Scythe Gentle Typhoon 1850 fans, D5 pump). The motherboard is socket 775, so a Core 2 Quad Core is the most advance it can do. Any PSU that inclues extra headroom for future proofing would be a bonus.
So, any suggestions, ideas, or comments?
