For all those who didnt know, this was not just a case of photochopping AM3 results.

why isnt he banned, let alone lifetime banned like on the orb though? so basically if you cheat and get caught, the scores are removed and thats it? i can just do it again and hope it lasts this time?

i remember talking to people about him probably 4 years ago, if not longer. there were quite a few high end benchers back then that didnt trust him or his results.

hard to believe he made it this long really. great to see he finally got caught and will be erased from the high end elite overclockers

its not easy to prove somebody cheated, and unfortunately futuremark didnt spend enough resources on improving their cheat detection... i just hope they will focus more on validation in future

btw, how about cpuz validation? didnt opb exploit a bug in cpuz as well to make his suicide clocks look higher than they actually were? is there any bench he didnt cheat in or exploited bugs?

Hey CCC what's up buddy. Well put but what i find even more shocking is that the guy still expects people to take him seriosuly because he "apologized". IMO he's been hacking for years and deserves all the crap he gets.
You wanna be compared to real legends like DJ, macci, OPP, Randi, Holicho, Kyosen, Highwayman etc you gotta put real work in around here, boy.

and yeah, i totally agree... i dont get how people can pat him on the back for chosing to admit the obvious... i mean he was cornered, his only alternative to admitting the cheats would be to vanish and start a new username, and that would have meant to lose most if not all friends/followers and hardware mfc relations... so dont think that he did this cause he finally saw the light and realized what he did was wrong and will be a good guy now etc... no way... he did a 180 degree right there within the minute he was proven to have cheated, from IM A BENCHING GOD, KNEE BEFORE ME, to ohhhh im a sinner! forgive me! ill be a righteous man from now on!

Not defending anyone but you do remember performance bios where you could get way better 1M time? Initially nobody knew about it

actually didnt most people know it? cause there were 45nm chips before bioses were 45nm supporting so people benching with pre 45nm bioses and then realized with 45nm supporting bioses spi 1m ran slower...

And who said that similar bios/MCH bar/spd or whatever modifications cant be done? For example, mch editing were popular on 965 to get a boost.

the same on p35, x38, x48, p45 and even i7... and itll be the same on i5 too...

But maybe that was not all, maybe there is more. The fact is that many people don't know that. And as far as I know OPB had a good contact with Oscar Wu and we all know who he is

i know several people who have good contacts with oskar wu, and? hes a great guy and very very knowledgeable and probably the no1 candidate to be called a mainboard engineering genious, but so what? people seem to think there is some magic in all this, that there is something unknown and adventerous lurking in the dark of technology they dont understand... but there isnt! yes there are many ways to tweak performance, but if opb got his tweaking skills from oskar then how come dfi's bios isnt the fastest in several benchmarks and their boards dont clock the highest in several benchmarks? if opb got the best results cause of hints from oskar wu, then how come oskar wu couldnt use his knowledge to tweak his own dfi bioses and people would break world records left and right on dfi boards?

But will stress this again, I am not defending anyone here, just stating that there certainly are more advanced tweaks/changes that can be done.

yeah, sure there are, im not denying that...

BUT, my point is, what makes you think OPB knows some amazing tweaks that get him ahead of everybody else?

so far everybody could say he was ahead cause of tweaks, even though most people felt his results were fishy at best... but now that he has been proven to cheat, in several benchmarks, and even admitted it... how can you still believe that he knows some special tweaks which gave him the edge?

if he really HAD and HAS such amazing tweaks that give him a big boost, then why did he cheat?

that plus the fact that in the past 5years or so of suspicious results from him NOBODY being able to reproduce ANY of his supposedly dozens of tweaks makes it pretty obvious that while those tweaks are possible, he certainly doesnt have them.

think of it the other way around, you spend most of your life to compete with other people to show off the products of your company, which depends on good results to sell their products well, yet you cant reach higher results than others out there... so you start to cheat, a little first, only when necessary... but its tempting so you go on and go on... but people notice there is something weird about your results, so what do you tell them?

its a special tweak...

what else could you actually say besides that?
and maybe it wasnt even his idea and just somebody who admired him came up with it defending him and said the same thing you just said, "maybe its a special tweak" or "im sure he knows so much about hardware that he knows special tweaks" etc...

if anybody still thinks opb knows some mega special ultra tweaks, his logic unit is malfunctioning
