this may be answered somewhere in the 144 pages of this thread but i will ask to save myself the long read
has there been any development on the S3 sleep problems on this board? i have tried a great number of ram modules, settings, etc, and i cannot resolve this issue...

hi,well 2.00D is the 1:1 divider using the 400 fsb strap
2.00B is the 1:1 divider using the 333fsb strap
2.00B if you use 500x8 the lowest peformance level setting would be 10
where as if you 2.00D and 500x8 the lowest pl setting is 9
200 strap: 3:4, 3:5, 1:2
266 strap: 4:5, 2:3, 1:2
333 strap: 1:1, 5:6, 5:8, 1:2
400 strap: 1:1, 3:4, 2:3
example:333strap-1:1=2.00B / 5:6=2.40B / 5:8=3.20B
terminal voltage for the cpu is the vtt or vFSB
cpu ref and mch ref are your Gtl settings.with these you'll have to find the right ones for you cpu and board(trial and error)
this will help with that

hope this helps![]()

okay.if you use the 5:6 divider 333strap 2.40B it will give you ddr-960.heres the math for 5:6 divider
400fsb x 6 = 2400 then divide by 5 = 480 x 2 = 960Mhz. thats how the dividers work.
heres the 4:5 divider 400fsb x 5 = 2000 divide by 4 = 500 x 2 = 1000Mhz
hope this helps.

Put my q9550 back in to play with some more. Think I may be able to get vcore down another notch with some tweaking. Ran this today.

Thanks radaja, the vid is 1.2125v, Has been my best chip so far I think. Had it for a while then got the q9650 hoping to do better, but this does 4ghz on less vcore. Wish it had a 9 multi.
it got the 8.5 right? if so have you tried 8.5x506 for 4300?boy thats a nice vid though
maybe you can get 4300 with less than 1.39v

yes 8.5 multi. Will try it tonight and see.
Need to get this on water cooling (which I don't have), ran it for a couple minutes at 506x8.5 but temps were to high.
400 strap is the easiest and needs the least amount of vMch and you can set a lower pl level than the 333 strap
the 333 strap is easy to but like i said if the you take a hit in the pl setting.
266 strap at higher fsb speeds you'll need more vMch. so say you run 450fsb and use the 333 strap
and need only 1.24vMch then you run 450fsb and use the 266strap it might require 1.30vMch

Lost most of my screen shots in my last format, found this from around a month ago, sorry for the poor image quality. Want to go higher but temps wont allow it. Will keep this cpu but sell my 9650's and 8400's. Looking to go i7 as soon as I can afford to. Will be nice to have a whole new set of problems to learn.
I have room left for increasing vcore but the temps get higher than I like. At 506x8.5-1.3625v (bios) it gets pretty warm running Prime, mid to upper 70's in small fft's so I backed it down. It was a lot cooler when I took that ss back in April. I may need to reapply the thermal paste and see if it helps.
Have yet to get the magic number (4.5ghz) stable with 5 45nm cpu's. Did have a 3 hour run with an e8400 at 4.5 but was at 1.4875vcore thought that was to high so I quit the run even though temps were good. Maybe "Im not Xtreme" should be under my name in red IDK lol.
EDIT: BTW Thanks, Sorry for my poor etiquette, I was sitting here getting yelled at by the wife while I was typing.

Seems like you can either get a cool running hi vid chip that takes way more than reasonable vcore to get hi oc's or, a low vid chip that would allow you to get a great oc on reasonable vcore but unless you are on water the temps get to hi. I guess maybe I should consider water cooling and not go i7. Could be fun to mess with.
@radaja
Hey dude! when are you're blades due to come? Is that the 9600 or 8500 kit?

I was wondering, which voltage(s) is/are key in finding stability for running a higher Performance Level? Just upping the vMCH is enough , or do you have to up vDIMM also?
Also, which timings are being changed when you switch between the Xtreme, Turbo and Standard profile? And again which voltage(s) is/are key in running stable?
Still in the proces of getting 4500MHz (9x500) stable with LinX, almost there I think. yesterday it completed 25 runs today it errors on the 5th run, with the same settings
Anyways, below is my stable settings for 4250MHz 8.5x500 and 2.50A strap and PL9.
Running with 2x2GB OCZ Flex2 PC9200 @ 1250 6-6-6-18-2T 2.14v
I'm running the 2.50A because 2.40B will not work. Setting that strap results in endless reboots and bios corruption.Code:******Gigabyte EP45 UD3P****** Robust Graphics Booster.........................[ Auto ] CPU Clock Ratio.................................[ 8.0 ] Fine CPU Clock Ratio............................[ .5 ] CPU Frequency 4.25GHz...........................[ 500 x8.5 ] ******Clock Chip Control****** CPU Host Clock Control..........................[ Enabled ] CPU Host Frequency (Mhz)........................[ 500 ] PCI Express Frequency (Mhz).....................[ 100 ] C.I.A 2 [Disabled] ******Advanced Clock Control****** CPU Clock Drive.................................[ 1000mv ] PCI Express Clock Drive.........................[ 1000mv ] CPU Clock Skew..................................[ 0ps ] MCH Clock Skew..................................[ 0ps ] ******DRAM Performance Control****** Performance Enhance [Standard] Extreme Memory Profile (XMP)....................[ Turbo ] (G) MCH Frequency Latch.........................[ 500MHz ] System Memory Multipler.........................[ 2.50A ] Memory Frequency 1066...........................[ 1250MHz] DRAM Timing Selectable..........................[ Manual ] CAS Latency Time................................[ 6 ] tRCD............................................[ 6 ] tRP.............................................[ 6 ] tRAS............................................[ 18 ] ******Advanced Timing Control****** tRRD............................................[ 9 ] tWTR............................................[ 6 ] tWR.............................................[ 8 ] tRFC............................................[ 7 ] tRTP............................................[ 5 ] Command Rate (cmd)..............................[ 2 ] ******Channel A and B Timing Settings****** Static tRead Value [ 0 ] ................[ 9 ] tRD Phase0 Adjustment [ 0 ] ................[ Auto ] tRD Phase1 Adjustment [ 0 ] ................[ Auto ] tRD Phase2 Adjustment [ 0 ] ................[ Auto ] tRD Phase3 Adjustment [ 0 ] ................[ Auto ] tRD 2rd (Differnt Rank) [ 0 ] ................[ 8 ] tWR 2wr (Differnt Rank) [ 0 ] ................[ 8 ] tWR 2rd (Differnt Rank) [ 0 ] ................[ 8 ] tRD 2wr (Same/Difft Rank) [ 0 ] ................[ 9 ] Dimm 1 Clock Skew Control.......................[ Auto ] Dimm 2 Clock Skew Control.......................[ Auto ] DDR Write Training..............................[ Disabled] ******Channel A and B Driving Settings****** Drive Strength Profile..........................[ OC-1333 ] Data Driving Pull Up Level......................[ Auto ] cmd Driving Pull Up Level.......................[ Auto ] ctrl Driving Pull Up Level......................[ Auto ] clk Driving Pull Up Level.......................[ Auto ] Data Driving Pull Down Level....................[ Auto ] cmd Driving Pull Down Level.....................[ Auto ] ctrl Driving Pull Down Level....................[ Auto ] clk Driving Pull Down Level.....................[ Auto ] ******Motherboard Voltage Control****** Load-Line Calibration [Enabled] CPU Vcore [ 1.25000 ]...................[ 1.4185 ] CPU Termination [ 1.20 ]...................[ 1.340 ] CPU PLL [ 1.50 ]...................[ 1.570 ] CPU Reference [ 0.760 ]...................[ 0.785 ] MCH Core [1.100 ]...................[ 1.440 ] MCH Reference [0.760 ]...................[ 0.768 ] MCH/DRAM Refernce [0.900 ]...................[ 1.113 ] ICH I/O [1.500 ]...................[ 1.500 ] ICH Core [1.100 ]...................[ 1.200 ] DRAM Voltage [1.800 ]...................[ 2.140 ] DRAM Termination [0.900 ]...................[ 0.930 ] Channel A Ref [0.900 ]...................[ 0.960 ] Channel B Ref [0.900 ]...................[ 0.960 ] ******Advanced BIOS Features****** Limit CPUID Max to 3............................[ Disabled ] No-Execute memory Protect.......................[ Enabled ] CPU Enhance Halt (CIE)..........................[ Enabled ] C2/C2E State Support............................[ Enabled ] C4/C4E State Support............................[ Disabled ] CPU Thermal Monitor.............................[ Enabled ] CPU EIST Function...............................[ Disabled ] Virtualization Technology.......................[ Enabled ]

i never have tried messing with the extreme setting,i just leave at turbo so i dont think i can help
but for lowering the PL it's all about vMch,cause PL is part of the NB's internal timings.so im not sure if more vdimm helps?
but if you tighten the ram timings then i know for sure vdimm helps stability

I saw a healthy increase in bandwidth and decrease in latency switching between Turbo and Xtreme, however Xtreme profiel isn't running stable.
Still wondering which subtimigns get adjusted when you switch between these two.
At 1250Mhz I can't tighten my timings anymore. 2.14v - 2.16v seems to be my sweet spot with my PowerChip based kit, upping vdimm more doesn't seem to get me anything.
If you take a look at my settings above for 4250MHz which one would you adjust for 4500MHz, I just can't get it stable for 4500Mhz?
I don't get it. I would think my RAM and chipset/FSB are stable, because at 4250 there's problem at all, and has been thoroughly tested with Prime95 and LinX
For 4500MHz I'm using the same settings, with exception for vCore which is set to 1.4625 - 1.4685v
LinX will crap out on me after 5 or 7 runs
Settings vCore even higher does not help. After trying for 3 months now I'm at my wit's end...![]()
