AMD to show off DX11 hardware tomorrow
    by Charlie Demerjian

    June 2, 2009

JUST BEFORE NOON Taipei time on Wendesday, ATI is going to to drop a bombshell on the graphics world, showing off working 40nm DX11 silicon. Nvidia has yet to tape out a DX11 part or put a 40nm chip on the market.

The cards that will be showed off are Evergreen/Cypress, what is commonly referred to as R870. That code name however is not used internally, so if you ever see any leaked specs or charts with R870 on them, they are flat out faked. There have been several of these bandied around, but they are all laughably off.

AMD promised that they would have DX11 cards out on the market by the Windows 7 launch, and barring a massive and as of yet undetected problem, it looks like they will make that with ease. In the mean time, at the company's Computex press conferences, Nvidia distinctly avoided any mention of DX11 or parts that run it..

Mid-day tomorrow, the winners and losers for the next 2-3 quarters will become very very clear.

The source is suspect, but I feel that even he is not incompetent enough to lie about something that will be fresh in the minds of people tomorrow. Then again, I doubt he cares about his rep at this point.

I'll believe him for the time being. Can't wait to see it

But lets hope there is something tomorrow. However lets not hear more to this "site"

And thats some nasty links of "Please give us more attention" below the article.

Dunno,he said he just left.He had an argument with them a while ago, money related (basically).
As for veracity of his claims,we will find out-tomorrow .I think the chances are something will happen tomorrow, even if AMD demos a "low end DX11" part and not RV870.After all, they do like to keep cards close to their chest.

I think they asked him to not show appalling bias in favour of AMD and he threw a tantrum and left.

Am I missing something in that twitter hell? It just points back to Charlies site for the only thing about DX11.

Ever since nvidia generation 6 having sm 3 and the radeon 800 series not having sm3, ATI has been on a warpath to release innovations first. Aside from the delay on the r600 forcing them to postpone dx10, they have released dx 10.1, tessellation, and sm4.1 first.

Yes, but i don't think, that a amd employee, who knows thinks about future products would link it, when it's not true.

But to have running dx11 cards do'nt mean, the launch is near, it looks like it is depending on tsmc whether we'll see dx11 with windows 7

You are missing a lot it seems. The post was written by Terry Makedon,an AMD Cat maker .Since he can't officially say what it is,he linked the 3rd party website that spills the beans.Anyhow, you will soon find out whether it's true or not.Seeing Terry just confirming it unofficially ,I'd say chances are 99% it's true(0.1% is that some disaster ,heaven forbid, happens tomorrow).

AMD is to showcase, not launch the parts. There is a big difference.Launch is planned for Q4.

Seeing how NV has nothing to show,AMD can't loose much .And they don't need to show any results or specifications whatsoever, just a DX11 hw running DX10 and DX11 code .

edit: i beat ILikeCosmosS by a few seconds .

that probably is true but the advantage is to amd because nvidia hasnt even made 1 40nm gpu ever while amd has made the rv740

i would rather have a release date then specs

Listening to rumors is a quick way to misinformation.

If you don't think Nvidia has a couple examples of their next gen card bumping around here and there, you are sadly mistaken.

Agreed. Hope AMD only shows some DX11 functions, and doesn't reveal the specs just yet...

It's possible that AMD has a full understanding of what Nvidia will offer and just feel confident in their product. It's really hard to say for sure but we will have to wait and see. I would consider this a new approach from AMD so something is up.

Personally, I think they will show off some tech demos and that's it. Exciting, but what I want to see is some additional DX11 game announcements. Judging from E3 so far; there are none.

next installment of STALKER is rumored to have DX11 path and no, NVIDIA doesn't have any real hardware bumping around... not even for game devs.
Adobe is working on Flash Player support for 64-bit platforms as part of our ongoing commitment to the cross-platform compatibility of Flash Player. We expect to provide native support for 64-bit platforms in an upcoming release of Flash Player following the release of Flash Player 10.1.

    Edit. Revealed too much.

    I was talking about internally.
