i think seeing an example of a dx11 game running live would be the coolest, and probably very hard to do
Why would you want that? We NEED competition, especially with the shrinking PC market. I would much rather have ATI and Nvidia cards performing nearly even just for the fact that it will drive down prices like it has with this last generation.Originally Posted by orangekiwii

Yep. The tooth and nail fight going on right now is awesome, look at the drastic price cutting Nvidia was forced into, Nvidia hardware is essentially half the price it would "normally" be without real competition.

OT but man, that game i found was a poor performer even in Dx9 mode, let alone DX10, and now Dx11

absolute bs. the gt300 is taped out and 40nm mobil hardware should be launched at computex (rumored dx10.1) or shortly thereafter.Nvidia has yet to tape out a DX11 part or put a 40nm chip on the market.
charlie is right about one thing, ati will be demo-ing dx11 hardware tomorrow, at 11:00 not 12:00. i've heard this a few places. i can't believe the inq was paying him, and i can't believe he managed to find another job...

40nm Nvidia chips will be announced, not released... We still won't see them for a few more months.

you're right, the 40nm parts aren't yet available for purchase, i believe they're still working with tsmc on better yeilds.

the review stats that going from dx10.1 4890 to dx11 cards isnt going to be big jump in performance so we will see....
i think its really going to depend on what kind of clocks we can see, if it can break 1200mhz, we should be happy with it. but overall this is NOT going to be the same as 3870-4870
They simply don't know what specifications the chip in question has... They only have the die size.
