Prolimatech Megahalems with 2x1200 RPM Push/Pull, has worked best for me so far. It is running this hot w3520 about 6-10'C cooler than the NorthQ 3590.
Thanks for the info. I'm going to use Air Cooling when I upgrade to i7 and I want to ask how much better the Prolimatech Megahalems would be than a Noctua NH-U12P or TRUE? Is it much better or only a couple of degrees better? I've already got both the Noctua and TRUE, but would it be worth getting the Megahalems instead? btw does it come with two sets of fan clips?

Also, what is is like to mount compared to a TRUE or Noctua?

To anyone having issues getting VMware running:
Head on over to this link: http://communities.vmware.com/docs/DOC-8978

The problem is, is that DFI leaves the "VT" flag "Unlocked", so even though you set Virtualization Tech. to "Enabled" in the bios, Windows switches it to "Disabled" on log-in.

    Core i7 920 D0 B-batch (4.1) (Kinda Stable?) | DFI X58 T3eH8 (Fed up with its' issues, may get a new board soon) | Patriot 1600 (9-9-9-24) (for now) | XFX HD 4890 (971/1065) (for now) |
    80GB X25-m G2 | WD 640GB | PCP&C 750 | Dell 2408 LCD | NEC 1970GX LCD | Win7 Pro | CoolerMaster ATCS 840 {Modded to reverse-ATX, WC'ing internal}

    CPU Loop: MCP655 > HK 3.0 LT > ST 320 (3x Scythe G's) > ST Res >Pump
    GPU Loop: MCP655 > MCW-60 > PA160 (1x YL D12SH) > ST Res > BIP 220 (2x YL D12SH) >Pump

I need some help. I think I am stuck at BCLK of 200. Anything higher just freezes and resets the system. Here are my settings:

cpu feature: VR enabled, Thermal disabled, CxE C1E, Execute disable Bit enabled, VT enabled, HT enabled, All cores
ram: rated timings. 2:6, so its running slower than rated.
voltages: vcore 1.3 (tried upto 1.35), vid special add enabled, special add Auto, vdroop disabled, dram 1.65, vtt 1.36 (tried upto 1.45), VTT special add Auto, CPU pll 1.8 (tried upto 1.9), IOH/ICH 1.11 (tried upto 1.31), IOH analog voltage 1.1 (tried upto 1.15). Rest default.
    PPM enabled.
    Turbo enabled.
    BCLK 202
    PCIE 100
    DRAM Freq BCLK*6 (1212)
    UnCore Freq BCLK*14.

    Rest default.

Any ideas what's up? The CPU is definitely capable because I was running 4.32Ghz (21x206) on Asus with the same hardware. I was using 1.35Vcore, 1.38VTT, 1.3IOH, 1.84PLL for 4.32Ghz.

Again re-read links posted at http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...postcount=1106 has all you ever need - besides me holding your hand j/k

From 2nd link posted at http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...postcount=1106 you can see why you're having problems as optimal/stable Uncore to DRAM frequency ratio needs to be 2:1 so Uncore multi needs to be 2x DRAM multi, so 6x mem multi needs uncore multi at 12x and not 14x. This is also mentioned in first link thread at http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...postcount=1106 under tip #24 http://i4memory.com/102537-post3.html

As to the rest, will depend on what your particular cpu's bclk to cpu vtt ratio relationship is like - #2 and #3 http://i4memory.com/102537-post3.html.

My latest result, no probs pushing higher for me on 21x with W3520 now after working around 12x fixed turbo issue which seems to only effect my W3520 but not my 4x i7 920 cpus. i7 Turbo says max Calculated and MSR multi is 21x under load and 3dmark06 cpu score confirms it is working at 21x210Bclk with VID = AUTO + VID Special Add = 110.1% for 1.088v idle and 1.312v load vcore when CxE set to C1E.

CPUZ Idle vs After Load Idle

max Calculated and MSR multi is 21x

    3dmark06

max Calculated and MSR multi is 21x

Added another useful link to my list for DFI UT X58 for turbo multi and win7

I thought it was supposed to be greater than equal to 2x. I had been running 2:6 and 16x on my Asus mobo without any issues.

    I will try the 12x.

Are green slots the 2+4+6 you mention in your tips or are they the ones marked DIMM_2/4/6 on the motherboard?

Ok, set it 12x and BSOD again within seconds of LinX. I removed the 2 modules out of 3x2GB and ran Linx for half hour fine. So, what gives? This ram was rock stable with Asus board.

Devsk: I had to buy another memory-brand to get the beast in this mobo out, and if you have the right memory..this board can do some serious damage
Do you have other memory you can try?
And you should read Eva2000 Dfi X58 tips=)
The green slots you should use.

RobP: Yeah, this is one of the best mobo i have tried. On the memory it is one of the best. Just 100% fun to play with.
