try setting virtualisation in bios to disabled - some folks reported some bioses have the switch for enable/disabled reversed

Force is very strong on this W3520!

    4446Mhz at 1.360v
Very strong on BCLK'ing even on 20x multiplier!

    4534Mhz at 1.376v

Good one! Keep up the good job.

I'm having similar results too, this CPU seams to love this board. It has been running very smooth at high speeds with minimal tweaks.

But my air cooling is not good enough for 24/7 use with Vcore > 1.3v, specially in this sumer-heat. This can be a good 24/7 with your 4-rad!

NorthQ 3590 Water Cooling Kit with 4x1200RPM push/pull was the last one, (and it was making a good deal av turbulent and noise), but and it was running 3 to 5'C cooler than Noctua NH-U12P 2x1200RPM push/pull (which i used before that) on my good old i7 C0 (which was a good deal cooler than w3520 with the same Vcore).

Prolimatech Megahalems with 2x1200 RPM Push/Pull, has worked best for me so far. It is running this hot w3520 about 6-10'C cooler than the NorthQ 3590.

Yeah this W3520 is bloody awesome - FESER 480 Rad helps

    4600Mhz at 1.472v

Bumped up vcore and tried 20x230bclk = 4600Mhz and 32M Pi passed easily Haven't tried lower vcore yet though

For LN2/DI definitely EVGA Classified has higher operating bclk. But for H20/water i'd still prefer DFI. Here in OZ, DFI UT X58 AUD$444 while EVGA X58 classified ranges from AUD$638-769 depending on model!. Money saved I could put towards a nice 60GB OCZ Vertex SSD hehe

Thanks for your input, I think the Evga looks good and there is a realy cool watercooler for that board, but I think guides like yours are way better than OC guides for Evga. But i don't know yet

Well you already have the waterblocks for DFI - just leave the Heatpipe on and stick the EK block on the NB .....

Gosh, I can't even get over 206bclk. 205 is stable 8 threads, but 206 dies out quick. Anyone know if D0 does bclk any better than C0s?

Any tips otherwise to get bclk up? On the 4/28 bios. T3eh6. Willp post settings a bit later

Thanks... next board i'll be testing will either be DFI JR X58-T3H6, Gigabyte X58-UD4P or waiting on word from Asus about a P6T WS Pro - expect similar oc guides for them as long as the work right

Or just a 120x25mm fan over NB /GPU area helps too

all 5x cpus i have can hit 230-235bclk on DFI UT X58-T3EH8 4/28 bios easy on air/water.

    • i7 920 3836A756 C0 CPU #1
    • i7 920 3836A756 C0 CPU #2
    • i7 920 3851A368 D0 CPU #1
    • i7 920 3851A368 D0 CPU #2
    • Xeon W3520 3845A935 D0

    C0

    D0

Differences are varying CPU VTT / IOH/ICH volateg requirements to reach such bclks. D0 seem to reach the 230bclk target with slightly less CPU VTT than C0.

I can't speak specifically for the EK block, but I needed longer 4-40 screws/posts (1" was JUST long enough) to mount my Swiftech MCW30 on the northbridge. Even then mounting the block wasn't perfect; I needed about half a mm closer spacing so the posts are angled inward ever so slightly. I'm happy with the mount and it does mate well with the northbridge unisink so just a word of warning in case anybody runs into something like this while putting a block on the northbridge unisink.

Doing som testing with my memory, Kingston...not yet on 1.65 so maybe i can get them a little tighter.
Elpida-chips in them if someone wonder
And its 1.20 under load and stable...worse then many others D0 but not the worse either.

@PRJ - I don't think it is recommended to use thermal pads with waterblocks .............. bummer[/QUOTE]

Seems so, but uptil now i had great temps <60 celcius

I dont think thermal paste would have stayed in place under installation of hoses, small movements. The mips mosfet cooler does not have a very big supporting surface and is a bit under pressure from CPU hoses tight bend. Flexible pad seemed better.

    Well done is done

so if i want to have a waterblock on nb on my DFI mobo , you dont need to remove the heatsink?
Maybe make one big block to cover the hole .
Why cant someone make a block thatcovers evverthing like EK made to gigabytes X58
I have to read Evas memory tweak tips, after what i know so are these Elpida some monsters.

You can use the stock bolts supplied with the AMD kit in the MCW30 package if you do a hardmount and ditch the springs. Works just fine, no need for springs. Still have around 0.5cm left on top of the bolt.

Yes, I'm using the hardmount kit. I didn't even think to check out the AMD hardware that comes with it; instead, I just ran out to Home Depot haha.
