After my last post I've done several things trying to make things work:

    1) Another bios flash (using qflash)
    2) Memtest each RAM module (as it turned out - one did gave errors, so I am running 2gb in the system currently)
    3) New Vista x64 SP2 install, chipset & video drivers etc.
    4) Reseated the card several times, tried the top pci slot.

Result: stability = yes, Auzentech Prelude = no go.

The card is detected as a 'new hardware detected' pops out when windows starts, however when I try to install the drivers on load the following message comes:

"Setup is unable to detect a supported product on your system. Please ensure that your product is properly installed before running this Setup program.
    Setup will exit.
    "

The Prelude is plugged in second (lower) pci slot. The green lamp on the side of the card is on.

    Other bios settings:
    - integrated audio disabled

    Any thoughts/ideas?

I had that same error pop up in windows 7 when installing the X-Fi extreme audio card. Never got it to work no matter what driver I used.. The extreme gamer and the extreme music cards worked fine.

Nice job with your q9650 Osterman.

    q9650 *mmmm*

that's odd about the sound card, have you checked your I/O's?

you never know how something new can still suffer from ancient issues

    Greetings folks,

i am curious about the Performance Level Setting.
In my case i am not able to go lower then Performance Level 9 with 450MHz FSB 1:1 regardless of the VMCH or other voltages.
(If i set it lower values then 9 no POST occurs)
Thats a little bit disappointing considering that many of you guys are achieving the same with 500MHz FSB or even higher then that.
My RAM is G.Skill 4GBPQ am i missing something or is it just what this ram is able to achieve?
Less i have, the more i gain.

KingZer0, welcome! Can you post your BIOS settings and/or a screen shot with MemSet and ET6 if you use it. That would help us get an idea where your at. Also, what is your exact ram.

to run pl8 with the 2.00D 1:1 you might need to raise the mchv up a little.
i was able to run all the way up to 519fsb,i thinkmight have been 529fsb using 2.00D 1:1 pl8
    but i needed 1.38v mch
    just tried 500fsb pl8 1:1 2.00D.i'll try your settings in a minute

I had to use PL9 also. Couldn't get it stable at all with PL8 200d, was trying 489x9 200d. Maybe better Ram would allow for it.

Yup, the board does undervolt the ram, but in my case i only get .02v undervolt.

    @radaja

I was thinkin in the same direction so i increased VMCH Voltage but it hasn`t any effect ojn the stability. Regardless of what voltage i tried to change it couldn`t bott with PL8.
So the reason could be the RAM or the System Memory Multiplier.
Because i know what impact the Performance Level has on the P45 Chipset or on the whole System i am a little bit there.
Less i have, the more i gain.

    Same here, PL8 is a no-go with 2.00D divider and 500fsb with 2x2GB OCZ Flex2 running at 1000MHz 5-5-5-12 )
The stange thing is however, that it will run PL8 with the 2.50A divider and 500fsb and my Flex2 runnig at 1250MHz 6-5-5-15.

After upgrading my watercooling rig I'm finally getting to the point that 4500Mhz is stable.

Vcore 1.425v LLC enabled, vtt 1.34, vmch 1.46

Running LinX 27th pass at the moment, so it looks i'm finally getting there (after 2 months, pffff )

I will post my settings-template once LinX completes 50 runs and it's 8 hour Prime stable

KingZer0, Try setting MCH Frequency Latch to Auto. Also, might try 2.00B mulitplier. MCH volts @ 1.22 for 2x2gb is low, try working your way up one notch at a time with. I had trouble posting/booting at one time giving too much mch volts. Both 2.00D and 2.00B worked fine for me at 500fsb 1:1 memory 1000mhz with 2x2gb, but I think 1.32-1.34 was the ticket for me. You may also need 2.10 vdimm. Also, what CPU are you using?

    I am using a Q9550 E0.
I really have adjusted all the stuff you can imagine. But it doesn`t change anything even if i go high on the MCH or if i tighten the strap. (i am already on 400 so when it doesn`t run PL8 on there the chance is high it wouldn`t on 333)
I will try to experiment with the RAM Multiplier and make a report here after that.

    edit:
Allright, switching to a lower strap (from 400 to 333 in my case) needs a lot more vMCH Voltage to even boot.
But i don`t have a water cooled system and as u all know the heatsink of the MCH turns really hot even on stock voltage so i don`t wanna go risky here.

Sorry for the noob comment... but I am lost on PL/performance level. Can someone explain this to me? Maybe I'm missing something (probably a lot of things) that are preventing me from going higher than 4.0 GHz...

    Try these drivers: http://forums.creative.com/creativel...read.id=141125

I STRONGLY recommend the use of a driver cleaning tool before proceeding.

Under Advanced Timing Control- Channel A&B "Static tRead Value" = PL level

I tried several sets of ram last night and cannot use the PL8 with 200D 1:1. I think its radaja's Cellshock ram allowing him to do this. I tried with 2 sets of 2x1gb kits 1066 Dominators-d9's, a set of Mushkin Redline ddr2 1000 2x2gb kit, and 2 sets of G. Skill 1066 4gb kit. Tried up to 1.40v MCH, it was set to turbo so maybe that is the problem IDK. I have 2 sets of 1066 Ballistix tracers that are d9's I may try later tonight.

DemonEyez: nice job with that q9650, 4.5ghz is awesome . I couldn't keep temps down with my Ultra120 to go any higher than 4.3ghz.

I have a UD3R running my Q9650 under some h20 for my game machine. I usually never run the sleep mode; it's either on or off.

I currently have a Q9650, still NIB, that I was thinking of getting another UD3R board for. The machine would be my 24/7 machine which I often use the sleep mode. I currently have a P5Q Premium asus board running my 24/7 machine. I can't remember if there are issues with the UD3 board coming out of sleep mode. Do the UD3 boards have trouble coming out of sleep mode?

    Thanks,

    529th

    Hi All.

I recently bought the Gigabyte EP45-UD3P because of all the good things i have read here on how well it clocks the Q9650.

    I am using 4 x 2Gigs of Gskill DDR 1066.

My question is which bios would you recommend because i just flashed to F9l and it killed my raid and i am now struggling to get 4Ghz stable?

    Thanks

529th, YMMV, but I have had issues with sleep mode - it sends me into a never-ending POST loop.

I second jonathan's question, but with the UD3R - What's the most OC-worthy BIOS out there for both boards?
