I wanted to take a shot of the blueberry flowers.
I didn't let the camera decide for me, I did choose f2.8 because i wanted the background to be blur but i let the camera decide the exposure-time, there was plenty of light that is why i chose 100 Iso otherwise i would have went with 200 "I Can't go higher because the noise will get crazy with my bad camera"
Do you think f2.8 was too high ? I'm still trying to learn![]()
Here is another picture hopefully you like it more"you can see how much noise in the picture even at iso 100

Hmmm. Imho (you can always argue about motives) there was too much on the picture. Try to show details, for instance just one blossom.
OK, I see. Seems like you've learned the details and effects.
F2.8 normally is fine to get a small depth of field. Problem is, as you showed a too big picture I find it difficult to make out what is within the sharp area and therefore is the motive. Plus for my taste the depth of field was too big, even at F2.8 (or did I just missed it?).
This is what F2.8 should look like imho (one of my first shots with the DSLR and the Sigma Makro). Not really good, but you should get the idea
# Camera Model = Canon EOS 450D
# Lens: Sigma EX DG 105 mm Makro
# Exposure Time (1 / Shutter Speed) = 1/1000 second = 0.001 second
# Lens F-Number/F-Stop = 28/10 = F2.8
# ISO Speed Ratings = 200
# Focal Length = 105/1 mm = 105 mm
http://www.abload.de/img/img_0298ig85.jpg
The noise is really high, but the chromatic aberrations are bad as well :/
Up to now I think this is your best picture.

Thanks. I'm still learning as well. It's crazy to compare recent shots to my "old" pictures. Although I began with photography not two months ago there's a noticable difference. You learn very much very fast.
But you don't necessarily need a DSLR to take great pictures, I think a good photographer could take better pictures with a compact than I do with my DSLR. A DSLR has quite high following costs compared to a compact or, if you want something better, a bridge-camera.
And you might be right. The compact cameras have evolved much in the past years. We have a Fuji Finepix F601 as well as a two years old Panasonic Lumix (my sister's) and the difference ist just increadible. The Lumix takes remarcable pictures if you have enough light and don't use the flash. To prevent to blur the picture because of a too long exposure you should use the self trigger. The press on the button sometimes is enough to blur the picture. That even helps with DSLRs.
Try not to shoot too centered or cut your picture afterwards, because for most pictures it looks "boring".

Another image of the day from meim loving this cam!!!! cant wait till i get my macro lense aswell!
Does anyone know how i can EXIF data? do i need a specific peice of software? im using Photomatix and Firegraphics aswell as the usual Photoshop. And can i only obtain exif data using the RAW capturing format?
oh and can anyone recommend a program that is a bit faster at processing RAW files, because firgraphics takes 2-3 minutes to open each image :S

JPEG-picutures can contain EXIF-data as well! My bet is that one of the programs you are using deletes the data.
What is the make of your camera? Photoshop should be able to open RAW as well.

It was my mistake afterall, when i take pictures in JPEG + RAW format the data is in there if i right click and view the properties tab. Its because i opened the RAW file and saved it as a JPEG it got deleted.
Its a Sony A350 with a 18-70 Lens
Wish I was using a FF...
Anyways, I'm probably going to give the 70-200mm f/4 IS a try and see if that does any better in lower light, probably will only have an edge though when handheld (slower but it has IS).

Does it have the option where you depress the shutter button part way to focus, then allow you to move the subject in the frame before clicking? Won't work for all shots, but will allow you to follow the rule-of-thirds for many.
@ Marin ... did you shoot that last pic with your right or left eye?![]()
