    How to stability test

A little hint: In order to test the stability of your system you will need to run the FULL MEM or MAX STRESS options, as you can see you are only using half of your ram for testing so that isn't a real test.

    ...
Another note is to hit print screen before the test ends to take full loaded for real volts and temps (example: Linx 25 passes take SS on the 24th pass).

    Hope that helps

Thanks for thre the tip but I used what was available. I'm not a vista expert so if you can tell me what to do to get more available ram I would greatly appreciate it. BTW I measure voltage under load using a digital multimeter to get a more accurate reading, software rarely gives correct readings.

Ahh, was looking at your real temp in the picture, read 67 max, for these 1.21 vid chips that seems to be the norm. Mid 50's in prime is good.
I still get high temps so I just don't run real temp anymore when priming. Maybe what I don't know wont hurt.... my cpu .

@Ghostleader - Do you use any active cooling on your NB?

LOL, yeah kinda scary at first but I don't run LinX all the time so it should be alright. Besides, normal use won't get you anywhere near what you see during stress testing.

    q9650

Just ran LinX. Closed out everything but real temp and this was the max mem when selecting all. Opened cpuz and ET6 after the test was finished. Dont know how to make it use anymore. This is using 2x1gb of memory, vista 32bit.

OC Nub: With 2GB and Vista that's about the maximum you're going to be able to test with LinX. Vista needs a few hundred MBs for itself to run.

Thanks, wasn't sure if there way to manually set it. Didn't see an option for it.

OK bro, I shut down all my open programs and I was able to squeeze a few hundred more mb's out for testing, even took a SS of full load on the last test and just after for you Jor3lBR.

Looks better Myster as people won't get different volts after the test.

As uncleweb said Vista cannot allocate full amount of memory so your test is fine.

    I thought your in W7.

My voltage drops a bit under load and it fluctuates when I'm doing things. Idle voltage is 1.345v, + or - .005v but under load is constant 1.338v. CPU-z and other software will only report what it gets from the board, problem is there's no way to calibrate the boards sensors to report proper readings. I trust my multimeter much more and yes, I have fresh batteries in it.

Is W7 better for ram? Maybe I'll try testing with that instead of Vista.

Is it just me or do the Q9650's run a little warmer than say a Q6600?

If you want to use all memory you should push the "ALL" button next to "Memory to use" and LinX gonna use all available free memory except 5Mb.

If you already have done this and you only get 2920Mb free memory your system is using a lot of memory, you should be able to get ~3500Mb available.

If you´re in the mood you can disable and stop "Superprefetch" and/or go to diagnostic mode and see if you get some more memory free, if not, don´t bother, it´s stable enough.

Btw, any improvement with F9b compare to the others.

    Nice overall OC. ,

I'm thinking of getting one (an upgrade from my current Foxconn MARS). What are the common issues of this board or things which I need to worry about? I have watercooling running so heat shouldn't be a problem

Ghostleader, I did use the all option and F9b seems to be the most stable for me but I've only tried one other bios which is F6 because it was on the board when I bought it.

I may give your other suggestions a try later when I get home from work, thanks.

My new board (RMA my old, they couldn´t fix it, got a new) came with F4 and I running some test with my Q6600 and ram config 4x1 (PC9600) and 4x2 (PC8500) just to see how much stress the board can take.

Gonna do the same with my Q9650.

After that I probably flash it to F8, F9b or a official F9 (which maybe have arrived then) to see if I can squeeze out some more.

Ghostleader, F8 was the worst bios of all that I tried. Would try the F7 or F9b.

how well does the EP45 UD3R overclock quads compared to the EP45 UD3P? does the UD3R have the same bios options as the UD3P?

    q9650

I'm officially retiring my q9650 from anymore testing. This is as Xtreme as I care to get with the temps . This was at 1.3875vcore set in bios. Also, cannot get LinX to read the same MAX memory any two times I open it. Close everything out before opening it and selecting ALL. Runs great at 4.14ghz so Ill keep it there.

My BIOS cpu vcore is set to 1.26 and in windows cpuz is reporting 1.216. Is that variance considered acceptable?
