I wouldn't call it "normal" but when I took my board out of the box it was like a twisted frisbee. Hardly any of the heat sinks made contact at all. I was really worried that some of the traces might be compromised. On a flat surface it looked terrible. Quite a few pages back in this thread are the discussions concerning the whole heat pipe arrangement of the board and peoples dis-satisfaction with it. I've resorted to taking the entire heat sink assembly off and using after market WB, etc. I've fixed it down with stand offs to my bench rig and it works flawlessly.
