@ bobreece - having a small amount of droop is better than no droop or even worse having vcore increase under load. Due to the low amount of vcore output filtering caps on a mobo, they simply cannot filter out the spikes during load to idle and idle to load transitions. Also the amount of ringback, overshoot and settling time is increased significantly when LLC is enabled. You wont see the spikes with software or DMM the transients are too fast, but they are there. Having a small amount of droop in the design is better than no droop at all, as these issues are somewhat reduced.
Being a 6 phase PWM its pushed pretty hard when overclocking, so if you're worried, return it. Maybe this happens with all boards but I have only seen a couple of people complain about it.

Has anyone figured out why memory doesn't work well on this board? My Crucial Ballistix PC8500 2x1 won't run in dual channel. I have to put it in a red and yellow slot but it won't run if it is in the same color slots. I'll try three sets of Corsair XMS2 2x1 PC6400 tonight.

Can someone look at these and give me some advice or pointers please
It will boot up, green windows load screen, then go to the windows circle things and then crashes giving a memory dump.
It will boot into windows fine with standard settings.
Strange thing is these ran fine at the weekend![]()
so cant oc mu E7300 over 400fsb stable.
tryed 400x8 and x9 and x10 all same.
one time idle 430fsb was ok but not stressable.
what is wrong

more vcore maybe
ur NB vdimm is more than enough for 400ish fsb, also i think u dont even have to touch MCHref, ICH/IO and ICHcore try more vcore coz i had similar error at 1024fft when i thought it was my RAM or NB but once i raise my vcore a notch it passed

Mask, your MCH Reference is too high. You will want change your CPU termination voltage to 1.2V then set your MCH reference to .70 or .72 then switch your CPU termination back to 1.22 (if you want to keep the CPU Term there). These boards are extremely picky with MCH reference.

It could be those memories. I was just going off of what is on the Crucial site now. I had D9's but when I RMA'd them I got the newer ones.

Tried my ICH core @ 1.2v and Vcore @ 1.26250v but she still wont play ball again!
I am gutted as it ran all day Sunday with no problems!
To late now but will try the lower settings I already posted but 450fsb. See if that will load and is stable.
This is kind of what happened with my E6600. I got that booting into windows up to 440fsb but then it crashed and after that nothing I could do would get it stable again.![]()
Disable LLC, set vcore 1.41250, leave ICH core 1.100v. Set memory PL 11 or higher.

I can't believe how well and solid this board is. With Crucial B-Stix 8500's and KHX 8500. Both ran very good on my older P5K-e but required about 2.3 or so to do the same. I think that speaks to the quality and design of these later products. That goes for proc. as well. Crap, with DI even not too long ago clocks like these were only "possible" let alone the norm. I included bios info. I too had an issue with Prime ending. I upped vcore a notch, same time out. Obviously that was not it. Lowered it back and bumped vdimm up a notch. Same thing. Then I remembered reading someone's post about lowering MCH. Tried that and it has ran as long as I can stay up. (2:00am - got to get up @ 5:30) Lowered MCH ref. as well. Maybe it will help others as well. I'll say it, as some may be thinking it. This takes some time and experimentation. Enjoy.

I can't get past 544 no matter what I do. My board also seems a lot different from all of yours, it requires quite high reference voltages and... Well, yeah, high voltages on everything. F8a seemed to improve things for me a lot, I'm just only getting used to the board, but with F6/F7 I was struggling to reach 500 stable with roughly the same settings. Also, F8a sometimes resets itself after a failed OC attempt, which the earlier ones didn't do for me... A definite life-saver, I was pretty close to dropping my Vapo LS on the board when I had to reset it myself for about fifteen times in a row...
Seems to be some interesting issues with D9 chips this time around as well (remembering the 965P-series), my Cellshocks aren't as well-clocking as on my Maximus II Formula.
I KNOW MASSMAN DISLIKES YOU.

Hi, I’m having real problems with this motherboard (purchased yesterday) but I’m unsure that it is the motherboard and need advice.
Some background:
My original system
Asus P5nt-deluxe 780 chipset with Q6600 Kingston 1066
After getting two dead boards this setup would OC but would have problems, thought it was the ram so I purchased a set of OCZ Flex XLC 9600 still had the same problems and in the end killed the board trying to volt mod it.
Second
GA-X48-DQ6 with the same Q6600 and OCZ Flex XLC 9600
Would OC and pass 12hrs of prime but after a few start ups and shut downs I would get the constant reboot at post and the system would revert to its optimised settings. This would even happen with a 200 MHz OC and about 1.35v (1.28v standard).
Third
GA-EP45-UD3P again with the same Q6600 and OCZ Flex XLC 9600, Purchased yesterday.
Wont OC at all even had the constant reboot when I changed the power saving features from standard. I purchased this board for its overclocking. I had read heaps of reviews with Q6600 needing less voltage and clocking higher. To make it worse when changing the mobos over I forgot to change my Riva tuner profiles and cooked my video card, lesson learned X48 clock video cards higher than P45, and it was water cooled.
In all of the above the ram was always under clocked far from its specs. I purchased a set of 1066 dominators which will arrive Monday but it’s looking like that isn’t the problem.
I NEED ADVISE PLEASE!!!!! To me it looks like the Cpu is the problem in all this but I’m just not sure has anyone had these problems or could I just have bad luck with mobos. At stock everything runs fine 24/7 gaming, benching, everything.
I’ve used OC profiles off forums for the same boards but could not get what they were getting.
The only two parts that are the same in all this are the power supply and the Cpu I don’t think it’s the power supply because no matter how many HDD or fans I plug in when the system is standard it runs fine its only when I OC.
Any help would be really appreciated.
This post is over at EO as well.
If your talking about the "motherboard" temp sensor in everest and the "system" in et6 i do not believe thats is NB. On voltage screen ET6 says MCH, why would they change that to system under temps? Also Everest does show MCH temps on boards that have sensors. I believe it shows MCH or Northbridge under the sensor page, not motherboard. I have aftermarket NB cooling and temps do not change from 33c(everest motherboard sensor). Idle, Full load, different MCH voltages, and even disconnecting NB Fan shows no temp change. Same thing with ET6, i dont remember what the temp was, i think it was 45, but it never changed either. always same no matter what i did to the MCH.too.

Gonna get crackin with it here in a while, so far its a amazing board. Compared to my 750I anyway that i rmaed twice in a month and the first was DOA.

Arapab79: if you are trying to overclock this mb, you have to change many of the bios settings from Auto, or your system will not boot...or it goes into an endless reboot cycle...or reboots with default settings and you have to start over with the bios settings. Don't use Crucial ram, and be aware of bootstrap bug as described in this thread which renders some bootstrap settings useless. I understand this can be a tremendous m/b, but unless you are willing to study up and learn about the skews, sub-voltages, driving strengths, ect, for this board, I would recommend taking it back for a refund. I sold mine and got an Asus P5K Premium Black Pearl, which is so superior and user-friendly for o/c it is amazing! I've had my P5K to 585 FSB x 8.5 and it is very stable and easy to o/c. For 24/7 use I'm at 1.36v @ 4320 Mhz. Good luck!!
