Doesn't splitting the flow like that hamper the effectiveness of the block? I would think that flow eddies, or very little flow at all happens in that little extra area on the left side of the block. Once that little turn area fills with water, hydrostatic pressure will force the flow through the shortest route, leaving that area stagnant.

    Just curious.

well spotted... it looks open enough that water would still circulate

The screw heads look like they are countersunk so they are flush with the top... does this mean this block is single slot?

    Hi!

    Blocks are single slot.
The channels are designed the small chip gets totally enought water, ad it does not heat that much.

Single-slot enough for me to run tri-SLI and a sound card between them, Eddy?

Someone needs to PS this flow diagram over a picture of the actual block. I would so wallpaper that.

Oooooh that CFD picture is so engineering pr0n

Love to see those little glimpses of the thought that goes in to designing WC stuff.

It should be single-slot yes, because with Eddie's newer blocks the screws don't stick out above the delrin or plexiglass anymore

    So you should be fine

I hope so. I'd hate to buy a pair or three of them only to find out they don't work
The Tieton and the Koolance are definitely single-slot, as are the Aquacomputer ones.

But if these are true single-slot blocks, then I can add another option to my decision

it doesnt need to be a true single slot block because the card itself is a dual pci slot card.

The oversized pci holder will destory the point in it being a single slot block. If you do change the pci holder to a single slot holder, then i can see the need for a single slot block.

But now a days motherboard companies arent being too stupid and putting pci-e's next to each other.

Ya, but on a board like the evga x58 you need a single slot block to use the pci-e 1x for a soundcard. It doesnt have a slot above the first pci-e 16x.

that makes no sense when the PCI holder will be taken up.

Unless you change the stock pci-e holder, thats a different story.

But the card itself uses 2 PCI holders.

It does need to be a true single-slot block for my application, which is why I was asking, but thanks for trying to help . Changing the pci bracket to single-slot is a pretty basic operation.

tri-SLI + sound card = need for true single-slot card.

I have two of these ready to be installed which should allow me to use all of the slots on my board even with tri-SLI:

For expert users standoffs are not necessary.
First blocks will be available in 7 days.
Slightly OT but do the other full-cover blocks come with these ? Specifically the 9800GX2 blocks ?

I was wondering, is there a block that would be similar design to the gtx295 and 9800gx2 where I can just sandwich two gtx 285 to one block?

No, the 285 isn't built for that. You will always need separate blocks for the 285s.

Just a quick question that don't really pertain to the original topic since I don't want to just start a new thread that would end it's life in 2 or 3 post.

I'm planning to sli 2 GTX 285 with 2 EK block of course. I was wondering, is it enough if I were to have a feser 360 cooling it with a i7 920 at 4.0ghz using a mcp655 pump?

Also, zlojack, where did you get the bracket?

I'm guessing it will, but it may depend on how high you need to set your Vcore and other voltages to get to 4GHz. The 285s also seem to run cooler than the older models. I'm not saying it will be optimal, but it's worth a shot. You may need higher RPM fans on the radiator, and you'll also want to have good airflow in your case.

Pretty sure the answer to that is "No," if you're talking about the EK GTX 285 Full Cover water block.
