I got 5 sets of ram: 2x2gig GSkill Pi 8800s, 2x2gig GSkill Black Pi 6400s, 2x1 gig GSkill 6400 HZs, 2x1gig Crucial Ballistixs 6400s double-sided, and 2x1gig Crucial Ballistixs single sided 2.2 volt.
I get the same thing with all 5 sets, so i know it's not the ram, it's something with the damn motherboard.

BIOS F8a is doing wonders for me. So far this is the lowest voltage it's taken me to get 485 stable.

Radaja, thanks on the OC. Much of your info along with PangingIII, Zodden, Ghostleader and others made it happen. Thanks to all. Now to tweak more, especially if I could get ram to 1:1 at 550 FSB would be great, but I don't think it will happen.

No, push/pull on that cooler is not possible. Also using Arctic Silver Ceramique paste.

I haven't heard people talk about Kingston in years as being good stuff. The hot stuff now is G.Skill and Corsair. Personally if I was to get some new memory now I'd get the Corsair PC8500 2x1gb Dominators w/fan for $19.99 after rebate. I know that was really good stuff a while back but that price is hard to pass up now. Of course there is a $40 rebate or so.

If you don't want the rebate spend a few dollars more and get the $34 G.Skill PC8500. The PC6400 G.Skill is probably the best selling stuff out now.

i have this 2.40b bug too. I'm stucked @ 535 right now everything above gives me errors in the mem test but i don't think it's the fault of my ram. Can boot in windows +550.

Ok, I might have gotten the Linksys thing solved...I think I was running my memory at 1.8v @ 1100 and it wasn't happy with that. I'm at 375x9 now with the memory at 2.14 and Vcore at 1.25. Orthos is running so we'll see what happens.

Can anyone explain exactly what the memory timings do? I've got mine on 2.66C right now I think. What are the numbers and A-D? Are there some settings that are better/worse?

    memory

You want to run your memory on the 266, 333 strap to get the best peformance out of your memory and computer, run memtest 86, and see if you can pass test 5, 7.

could you try and see if the Vcore value at bios is set to "Normal" then how far can you overclocked this cpu?
try booting 400x9 and then bump up CPU FSB to 410.. 420... 425?

pangingII,do you mean set the vcore to default value of 1.20 and then up the fsb to see how far it will go on those volts?and yes to answer your question I LOVE THIS CPU! great temps but i didnt get a golden cpu with super low volts though.but that is ok the volts required for decent OC's are about normal.

sorry nope i meant don't enter core voltage value itself but set it to "Normal" (next selection from Auto), enable LLC and disable CPU C1E and EIST functions.
may be try CPU core: Normal, CPU PLL: 1.50, CPU VTT: 1.24, NB: 1.34, and then from this setting try booting 400x9... and see if you able to get into Windows at 420-430x9?

I feel your pain clo007. What has gigabyte tech support said? anything? Your having a strange problem. It's happened twice to you and one other time to someone else it looks like.... but those are the only three cases i've heard of. I wish i had an answer for ya. I've had 2 of these boards myself and built a couple of systems for customers with it (well the ud3p version) and all work with 2 or all 4 dimms populated. Maybe theres a bug with the r series? i dunno.... Good luck

Edit: i see the other issue i was speaking of like yours was with a UD3P board, but i dont know how many different sticks he's tried. He could actually have bad ram.

    IMG's
430x9 is very nice, for me 3.8GHz is pretty fast already.

i think PL 8 is the best you can do with the 430x9 and 4x 1GB 5-5-5-15 ram at 2.40B (or 5:6), and PL 8 also for 2.50A (4:5),
    PL 7 for 2.66D (3:4).

and PL 6-7 for 3.0A (2:3) but this will need to run ram at 4x 1GB DDR2-1290, how much vdimm that you feel comfortable to put through your ram kits?

Code might not be 100% accurate regarding the ram advanced timings (copied and pasted), but everything is auto except standard timings and PL. Still tweaking.

F8a bios seems better than F7a. But it takes longer for RAID to initialize. Instead of 2 dots, it's 9 dots. I hope to decrease my cpu voltage even more. Funny I can run the CPU VTT/PLL @ Normal @ 4ghz.

Yes, this is royally pissing me off. I have like $500 worth of ram that none will work with 2 sticks.

    Hi there everyone
I have just joined and am having real problems clocking my E6600 with this board. I managed 3.4Ghz stable with my old Abit IP35 but this just will not run stable at all.

I managed to get it to boot at 440fsb but orthos was not stable. So I lowered the fsb but then it got into a reboot loop!?

    My spec is-
    E6600
    GA-EP45-UD3P
    4GB G.Skill PC2-8500C5
    OcUK 8800GTX
    X-Fi Music
    2x 320GB WD Blues in RAID0
    Samsung SATA 22xDVDRW
    Corsair HX620
All watercooled in a NZXT Lexa case

I have gone back to standard settings for the moment, but this is what I managed to get it running and booting into windows with.

I would love to get a nice high fsb and lower the multi, but just to get anything stable would be good!

Anyone offer any advice? I see most people are on Q9xxx or E8xxx but this is a good chip and dont really want to splash out on a new one when I should get this to 3.4+

Thank you for your help guys

I get bootloops with my Corsair DHX PC2-8500 (2x2GB) - the G.Skill PI Black fails to POST and just beeps continuously. I am considering RMA'ing the board, the question is if I should get a replacement UD3P or just choose a different board, like an ASUS or DFI.

Also I know the RAM is not bad because it works great in my Rampage Formula board.

Wow, I'm only on Page 1 of this thread...and it's very good...

I'm about to get this UD3P MB, and I already have an E8400. I have some learning to do before going for any significant OC's with it... ( where are my reading glasses...)

Doesn't seem to work with F8a bios.
