i won't talk about the other board at this time, but, my UD3R board clocks Quad as easy as it clocks Dual i sometimes think it's more easier with Quad, as with my q9300 i never had to adjust MCH ref. and at this time the value is left at Normal, this is unlike what i had to do before when i tried overclocking e8400. however, i'm sure that the bios configurating can be different for each ram, cpu, etc.

i assume my board is the same (or about the same) as any UD3R and UD3P boards out there.
i again assume it shouldn't be a big difference, i mean there can be some small differences between one board to another.
if you are always lucky and always receive a good overclocking CPU, i'm very positively sure that you will love overclocking your new quad on your board more than before.

im hopeing it will clock like a beast with low volts,so far ive only been lucky with three pieces of hardware,my UD3P(of course),my two kits of cellshocks, and my kit of teams1300.all three of my cpu's in my opinionwere average at best, ive never been able to get past 4300ghz with low volts (1.29-1.33)like some have done.wish i could.but then again, this could simply be operator error.but i get my 9650 tommorrow and i will be happy as long as i get to 4.0ghz 8x500

After updating to the F8A bios, device manager sees a controller called "Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller." Is there some type of driver I need for this? Tried installing chipset drivers again to no avail

Nugzo thats the sign of the BUG. If you switch to any other 1Gb stick you'll able to up that to wherever you want 1.8vmch on 2:40 and it works... I tried all BIOS and versions 1.0 and 1.1 of the board, different 2GB PI sticks and it's a no go above 1.4vmch for me.

But good thing is I can run 1200DDR2 or more with 2.050vdimm and 1.40mch so for now is not a problem.

I'll try to post those settings so you can lower your vdimm and vmch.

never tried higher fsb and lower multi when ocing, now i really need to know from experts about my experience...

    4Ghz 9x422 with 1.344v 8hrs blend and smallfft stable

4Ghz 8x500 with 1.344v failed smallfft in seconds.. 1.36v stable blend and smallfft

i thought my cpu degraded so i set back to see hows with 9x422, yet again its stable for another 8hrs smallfft and blend

today i tried another run with 8x500.. still, failed smallfft at 1.344 but fine with 1.36v

is this the case of running higher fsb?

    thx guys

I finally have had time to try to push my setup , UD3P and E8400 E0, OCZ 2x2GB platinums

I'm disappointed that there is not much discussion on here about CPU and MCH Clock Skews as this seems to be important also?

I would like to hear what others use or have found for these settings, I'm thinking they are linked to FSB/CPU speed, but havent investigated thoroughly enough to tell yet.

agree with above, the MCH reference on this board has to be what percentage of the actual MCH voltage?

I didn't get that message when I updated. I'm using Vista 32 by the way.

Just tried another Q9300 on UD3R F6. and this is the very first booted after CPU is installed.

BIOS set CPU/PCI Express Clock Drives 700mV, PLL 1.50, VTT 1.36, CPU VCC 1.3625, NB 1.36, CPU/NB GTL_ref. 63.3% of VTT (which i set the value to Normal on both in BIOS).

    BIOS memory setting... Turbo, 2.4B, 4x 1GB DDR1152, 5-5-5-15 / 3-3-6-42-3 / Auto-Auto-Auto-8, DDR Write Training Enabled, tRD 8.

i have not checked for the lowest voltages requirement nor tried using a different voltages settings yet.

i still only testing with 2x Prime 95 customs that uses 2x 1600mb of ram in the testing.

    Room temperature aprox 33-35C.

    thank u friend,
seems it needs at least 1.38v compare to 9*422 at only 1.2v, its 8gigs though, awsome board and it handles this cheap E7300 very well

ram is bottlenecking me.. 1070 and it wont stabilize, even as high as 1.45vNB and 2.25vDimm

    thx

asap, good job, mine was very hard to stabilize using 8GB memory at about 533fsb-550fsb,like you vnb and vdimm lost its effect once i went higher than 533.i got it to 550fsb ran 5 runs of IBT(took 1 1/2 hrs with 8GB)seemed stable then ran prime for 2 hrs and everything was good for a couple of days, then one day it failed to boot,so i tried making some adjustments, but no luck so i backed it back down to 538fsband that did the trick.i think it was just too much for the memory controller or the NB to handle.again great job!

    thx, radaja

yes, been hard time stabilizing 8gigs, it was stable enough for 530fsb, then i decided to try 533 and see how it goes for the same settings..

at 530fsb, from MCH Ref at 65, 66, 70, 72.. i guess 72 fits me, the other will fail blend within a minute

    thx

well, my 9650 is installed and up and running.just stressing it at stock to see how warm it gets.looks like two sensors are stuck at 36c and 31c,but thats just fineall my other cpu's had stuck ones at 39c.vid is 1.25 which im happy with ,since my e8400 with a vid of 1.23 ran so hot yet my e8500 with vid of 1.25 was just right.

When I tried running the .exe that gigabyte provided it told me that it was for 32 bit only and to contact them for a 64 bit one.
