Wow, nice to read that! Remember, I am not trying to do any competition. I just believe, by doing comparisons like this, is the best way to understand differences on the boards...
I am on 7x500 because I have a first revision B3 65nm quad, so 8x500 is a no no for it for 24/7 on air, and I am all aircooled. And I don't have a 7.5 multiplier. You have a Q9650, so 3.5GHz is doable on 1.2Vcore or less I don't know. So we won't be able to tell anything about which board is allowing lower vcore, because the CPU's are just, not comparable.
But other board voltages required, and board temperatures (aircooled), and stability on 500FSB will be comparable between the boards.
vPLL, vFSB, vNB and board temps (NB, etc) and stability will probably be the best things to compare, so make sure you show that on your screenshot.
Just remember to do the same stability test I did.
20 IBT runs on max stress and 7h prime blend, or we won't be comparing apples to apples too, as I can lower volts to do quicker stress tests too.
About memory speeds, that is not comparable too. I have used DDR2-1000 on that 500FSB run, and that is a 1:1 divider, witch only gives PL10 on Maximus II Formula. On UD3P I know that you can do PL9 or less on 1:1 divider, so its not apples to apples. I can run 500FSB DDR2-1200, because that is 5:6 divider, and then I can use PL8 or PL7, then we could compare memory bandwidth. I just used DDR2-1000 on that run, because I thought it would be easier for people to clock ram there, so people with no high-end ram would be able to compare results too. And ir would also reduce impact of 2x1GB ram vs 2x2GB ram.
Also you can see my PSU rails on the screenshot. 12v is 12v, 5v is 5v, 3.3v is 3.3v. No messing with 12.6v on that rail for me. Just plain stock PSU used.
Thanks for helping on the comparison.
I am curious about results.
