    Project Lain V2000B - Nameless---Update: July 23rd

hi, if your reading this then your probably interested in what I'm doing, so ill start from the beginning

I was first interested in the idea of watercooling a computer about 2 years ago, but had never got the time, money or experience to do it. but after my brother got his bits, made his computer and watercooled it i decided it was my time to give it a go, so i came to this forum and found an incredible wealth of knowledge and alot of people who are very willing to help a first timer with his build.

I decided in september last year to order new parts for my computer, so i got a Q6600, Abit ip 35 pro, and my beloved HD 4870x2. this was my first ever computer build that id put together myself (with no other help) and it went together smoothly. Over xmas i made up my mind to get the stuff to take my computer to the next stage, and enter it into the realm of watercooling.

My favourite component, its powerful and beautiful

The Q6600 with a simply amazing heatsink, at current its running stable at 3.4 ghtz!

the cables where all hidden and clean, but i cut them out so i could test new and old components

My case was salvaged from my brothers room, an old dusty V2000B that had been sitting there for a few months i had been looking at buying a TJ07, but decided against it because everyone does that case, and i wanted a little bit of a challenge in fitting everything in.

see what i mean by dusty

He had taken anything that he wanted for his new build and left it in:

With much help from people on this forum i finally got around to ordering my fans and radiators last week monday (6th jan) i orderd two Thermochill PA 120.3 radiators and 10 Medium speed yate loons, for reasons out of my control i was unable to get the yate loons (a recall of fault fans) So the kind guys at www.Watercooled-pcs.co.uk quickly contacted me and told me the situation and so recommended that i get XLF-F1253's, i accepted the replacement and quickly received my replacement fans, and a little case modding kit free of charge for the disruption and problems. Thankyou very much watercooling-pcs.co.uk!!

Although these fans perhaps arent as good as the yate loons, you gotta admit they do look pretty awesome!

    And my free gift

I soon got to work attatching my fans to my radiators and sleeving the wires, once again with help from stickies on this forum i was soon pulling wires out, sleeving them and connecting everything up.

    The key tools

    The essential paperclips

the wrong way to heatshrink your cables

    the right way

My fans, stacked ontop of my radiator

Saturday night came around and i decided to take the plunge and order all my components, they have been orderd and should be here tomorrow or wednesday:
    2 DCC 18w res/top
    EK 4870 block
    Swiftech 775 apergee
    TFC compression fittings
    TFC 45 degree compression fittings
    Pink UV tubeing and coils
    Blue UV tubing and coils
    Blue UV liquid
    Pink UV liquid

    Things left to do:
Get my side pannels laser cut, Get my case powder coated
    Assemble my loop
    Leak test
    put everything inside the case
    go live!

MANY thanks to anyone who has helped me with silly questions, written amazing stickies for first timers to understand and get the confidence to go ahead with watercooling,

thanks to Watercooled-pcs.co.uk, aquapcs, kustom pcs and watercooling uk

More updates will be coming, as and when my components come, i hope you have enjoyed reading my little story and keep reading

    thanks

sorry for not updating! ive run into various problems since i started.

first off i could only get a hold of one PA 120.3 due to manufacturing issues, trying to find people to laser/water jet cut my pannels and find a powder coater.

since my last update ive sent off my side pannels and they are in the process of being water cut, should be here this time next week. ive recieved my second 120.3 and all the other parts for my loops.

unfortunately my camera is broken and is off being repaired so i cant upload any more pics till next week!!!

    thanks for patience!

    OMG updates!

i got my pannels back from the Abrasive water jet cutters today, and first of a HUGE thanks to Brian there, he has really put time and effort into these pannels, and i think they look ING AMAZING!!

So here is the Window pannel which will show off the mobo:

Here is the other side, im gunna put acrylic behind it and light it up...kinda hard to explain quite what im gunna do, but keep watching and you shall see!

    What you guys think??

Here is my computer all ready to be taken to the powder coaters first thing tomorrow morning, not quite decided on the colour, but ive got a lightening blue in mind.....

it shall be looking ALOT better after a fresh coating

I got a little bored waiting for the pannels to be cut, so i broke open my antec 900 case and went off and started watercooling my system that will be going into the v2000b

The case is so small ive had to put the PA 120.3 outside!

    MESSY!

The wiring and tubing thats all been squeezed into the case:

This DOES NOT resemble what im doing in the v2000b, if its as messy as that ill shoot myself lol

and if youve read this far, uve probably noticed my assitant's:

I know, im a sinner and am going to hell.....i have a mac lol

Feedback and advice is very welcome!

    Very good looking.

But instead of cathodes I'd suggest maybe an led chain?

It's not as overpoweringly bright as cathodes and gives a nice glow

Well, any picture is better than no picture
Nice shot. 400mm with x2 on crop? 1280mm zoom?? :O
Can you use autofocus with that? What F-stop is that, like F11?

nope it was taken at 1600mm, 1600 ISO, 420 shutter and f/11 (which is minimum when fully extended with x2 tele converter on it!)
and no, the autofocous doenst work on the 80-400 mm with an x2, it works on some of the other lense but not mine

Right, updates time!! finally got my case back from the sprayers this morning, and im pretty darn pleased with it.....

You cant see it very well in these pictures, but the paint is metalic!

so i set about putting it all together, first off the hammon box's for my radiators:

The screws went through the holes in the bottom reasonably easy, but i cant put all 4 screws into each box because of the hole alignment

    Putting the radiator in!

not perminant, just to see the fit

then i set about putting the PSU in and ran into another problem

The PSU fan blows directly into the case devider, so im gunna get my hole saw out and chop up the devider so that the airflow is proper!

here are the two 80mm fans below the PSU

    MOTHERBAORD TIME!

some shots of the HDD cage:

-its a new HDD, my seagate one( just 5 months old ) blew with a powercut last week......its a piece of cheap and i shall never be buying one ever again!
the New HDD arrived on saturday and is a 1TB Samsung Spinpoint F1, its VERY fast

and here is the case as its standing at the moment.......what you guys thing??

feedback is welcome! hope your enjoying my log as much as i am building it!!!!

why not just flip the psu back right side up before u hack out the case ?
it will work better that way too and you dont have to worry about tonne sof dust getting in the psu or anythng you may drop putting things in the case aka nust or screws while mounting things !
looking ace otherwise , particaulryl looking forward to the side view of the rads as i want to turn one or both of mine like that but im scared of how the vent amy end up

its a nice idea flipping it upside down, but unfortunately it wont work, because the PSU hovers about 3cm off the floor of the case when it is the correct way up, the rads therefore wont fit...thanks for the advice anyway.....
