I concluded that even though my cpu temp under water was 44-46C under very heavy load, that other chips on my mobo were too hot.

Regarding cpu tweak, I found about a 9-10c difference on idle and 4-5C on heavy load. I leave it off and see no difference or slight increase on benchmarks. I don't like heat for little gain.

Bummer about your retailer. I think you posted earlier that the guy was giving you odd vibes about ship dates?

With the factory cooler I was getting about 41ºc idle and 57ºc load. This is at 1.425v 3.2 Ghz
Thanks for the comparison info guys, and yes I had been getting odd vibes from the retailer, it all sounded a bit dodgy, I finally (this week) got a refund of my money, although they sent me a cheque rather than refund the credit card I paid with, so I'm waiting for it to clear now. Hoping to order the mobo from another company early next week, after the cheque has cleared.

Ok it just stopped on me what can i be doing wrong
Hmm your Load temps seem to be really high, which is odd as your idle temp seems fine. You've got a very high idle/load delta there.

Sounds like it could be a poorly mounted HSF, adequate at idle, but not getting a good enopugh contact to efficiently remove enough heat under higher load temps. Try re-mounting the HSF.

I've got a slightly similar problem with a 9850BE on the M2N32-SLI mobo, using a Arctic Cooling Freezer Extreme HSF. It was really difficult to install as the HSF wasn't quite clearing the chipset heatsink on the NB. So its not getting a really good contact, so my temps are higher than I expected to see.

Still safe enough under low load, and I'm only using it as a HTPC at the moment so its not being put under any heavy loads, and I'm going to swap the mobo out once I get a M3A79-T, so that the M3A32-MVP will replace the M2N32-SLI, so the AC Freezer Extreme should fit better and make better contact to work with the 9850BE then.

OT: As I'm typing this now, can anyone with the M3A79-T mobo tell me if the whole SATA OPtical Drive and SATA RAID problems have been fixed with SB750.

I know that when I installed on SB600, the only way I could get things to work was to swap my SATA Optical Drive with an IDE Optical Drive, no matter what I did I could not get Vista installed with a SATA Optical Drive when using SATA HDD's in RAID.
