Think he got an e8300 so even P5Q Dlx or GB 45 UD3P will be more than sufficient for 4ghz ops, no need to cash out in my opinion...
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

I agree, that board seems to do very well.

    Sorry,

I didn't specify I have a P5N-D on my E8300 right now, but I would like to purchase a board that could O.C. a beast like the QX9650.

So yeah, Rampage a go go, or anything better?

I would wait for the new intel chip to come out and ddr3 kits with 3 sticks, rather than getting the rampage. I like my board very much and find the price of ddr2 way better than ddr3 is. Also the rampage is way more money and nothing really better on the rampage as to the maximus II formula.

I also had a rampage formula and it was great when I had it. I have no complaints with that board but for some reason I seem to be much happier with my Maximus II Formula. Running at 4.0Ghz(with 8 Gig of ram) probably has something to do with it as well. My 2 cents.

for dual channel memory OC'ing on this M2F, does it matter if they are placed in either the blue or white slots? the manual says the it's probably better to OC in the white slots, but i don't get how it would matter

White or blue I find there is no difference.
I have 4 kits of 8500 and they dont perform any better in the white

    Hi,

Will Thermalright Extreme fit without any bending, disassembling on M2F.

And same question about SunBeam / Tuniq Core Contact Freezer.

If you had another chance which board you would choose for q9550 M2F or Rampage?

Thanks for all input I have hard choice to make here.

Cryptix proved a few pages back that Rampage offers little if anything at all.
P45 will run cooler than X48 and comparing the 2 bios MIIF offers more fine tuning.
I water cool so cannot comment on air coolers, I'm sure someone will be along shortly to answer your cooling questions.

The Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme fits, but depending on the RAM, you may not be able to utilize all 4 slots (if installed horozontally)-

TRUE fits fine mounted vertically, and does not obstruct any ram slots if vertical either. I cant answer about the other coolers you mentioned.

Do not mount this way if all possible. Weight pulls the true down some when mounted like that. I always noticed 2 cores sometimes 10c+ hotter than the other 2 during load. If i lift up on it a little temps even out. Tried this on 2 lapped cpus and the regular true and black true. Like cryp says it will work vertical. I used it vertical with 120x38mm fans and ram still fits. When i mount vertical all cores are within 3c loaded.

Thank you all guys for input.

I know now that TRUE will fit any direction - one more thing in thread DFI P45 DK Plus there is photo of True mounted on 45` degree angle to board - is it possible on every board?

(photo taken from DK thread on XS hope no body do not mind)

I also know that I want p45 board now decision is between M2F or Gigabyte EP45-UD3P - any comments on this?

My goal is to reach 4ghz on q9550 E0 for 24/7.

    Cheers

thats not a TRUE, i think is a Xigmatek (however its spelled) but it could just be the fan that is.

Ok I found this template from ATLNY, his specs are similiar to mine, except he has 4gb of pc6400 and I have 4gb of pc 8500, I set everything according to his and I could not boot. I know before I started changing the settings I had my DRAM Freq set at 1066 and when I made some changes it went to 1357, I can only assume this is my problem, I should have had the DRAM Freq set to auto before I started? Also I may need to adjust the DRAM Voltage different than his? I am really only looking to go 3.6ghz if that helps at all?
