Is there any chance someone could inform me about digital PWM and why it's different than what I assume is analog PWM? If anything just a nice informative link would work.

I read a little bit about it and I always have been curious if the 4+1 Digital PWM is better than Asus' 8+2 PWM.

    Thanks, Matt.

I haven't read anything but it's usually digital is more efficient then an analog

Ok fellas, after Vista installation, how do you go about installing motherboard drivers?

The moment I install motherboard drivers, after reboot, it puts me to DOS prompt asking for floppy disk. What freaken nonsense. I have to then default everything in the BIOS and then it won't ask. And I always get 'SATA not detected' error in the boot up process but starts up fine.

^ Sounds like a boot order issue, not a software issue.
Particle's First Rule of Online Technical Discussion:
As a thread about any computer related subject has its length approach infinity, the likelihood and inevitability of a poorly constructed AMD vs. Intel fight also exponentially increases.

    Rule 1A:
Likewise, the frequency of a car pseudoanalogy to explain a technical concept increases with thread length. This will make many people chuckle, as computer people are rarely knowledgeable about vehicular mechanics.

    Rule 2:
When confronted with a post that is contrary to what a poster likes, believes, or most often wants to be correct, the poster will pick out only minor details that are largely irrelevant in an attempt to shut out the conflicting idea. The core of the post will be left alone since it isn't easy to contradict what the person is actually saying.

    Rule 2A:
When a poster cannot properly refute a post they do not like (as described above), the poster will most likely invent fictitious counter-points and/or begin to attack the other's credibility in feeble ways that are dramatic but irrelevant. Do not underestimate this tactic, as in the online world this will sway many observers. Do not forget: Correctness is decided only by what is said last, the most loudly, or with greatest repetition.

    Rule 3:
When it comes to computer news, 70% of Internet rumors are outright fabricated, 20% are inaccurate enough to simply be discarded, and about 10% are based in reality. Grains of salt--become familiar with them.

Remember: When debating online, everyone else is ALWAYS wrong if they do not agree with you!

    Random Tip o' the Whatever
You just can't win. If your product offers feature A instead of B, people will moan how A is stupid and it didn't offer B. If your product offers B instead of A, they'll likewise complain and rant about how anyone's retarded cousin could figure out A is what the market wants.

I believe the message you're seeing might be the eSata........a separate on-board controller. If it's enabled in bios and you don't have anything connected to the eSata port, that message will pop up at every post. Just disable it.

That is weird for sure. I see none of that. I've loaded vista on it 20 times and it always goes smoothly..... you sure its a DOS prompt, not that phreakish Express Gate?

You trying to use AHCI or RAID per chance? I've got RAID 5 running fine, with no issues....

Particle may be right, might be boot order? You can try turning off the Floppy controller and setting the floppy to none and see what happens.

Maybe you just have a lame 9850.... My 9950 has lame cores 3 and 4, it blows.

I'm sure you've tried this, but you can raise all sorts of voltages, as well as make sure that the memory has enough volts and is set up correctly. I had to manually set up the Reapers, and pump them with 2.1 volts, then things smoothed out.

You may have posted specifics somewhere, forgive me, too lazy to read the whole thread right now. I've been able to get my 9850 past 3.6Ghz, I think I have a friendly CPU, as my 9950 gets pissed at anything beyond 3.3 (core 3 and 4 get constipated)

I shall try more volts in other palces then

although I'm not sure what one of them is cpu vdda.....? :/

yeah dude, def. need an update. Have you checked that your ram is set with the specified voltage and everything. Should be able to go higher than that. You have acc on?

I'm on vista 64 bit, and yes ACC is on.

2.8ghz is probably gona be my limit.

I'll have to buy water cooling if want 3.0ghz on 64 bit.

under cpu configuration the only thing that needs to be enabled is the ..ACPI SRAT Table

everything else should be disabled, of course unless you have acc enabled, thats an exception.

Way too much voltage for only 200mhz.
You should go to 3.000mh by keeping the default voltage.
    Have you tried it?
