Asus M3A79-T Deluxe

I am having a unique problem with my M3A79-T Deluxe....

If I shut my computer down completely, switch off the PSU, and then come back and turn it on, it will not post... so I push reset button on the motherboard and sometimes it will go ahead and post the first time and sometimes I have to reset 5 or 6 times to get it to post.

Today, I had to reset the BIOS with the CMOS pin just to get it to post.

Once it posts and loads windows, it runs great and I can do a "reboot" with no problems, but as soon as I shut it DOWN completely, I have to go through this ritual of "reset" over and over to get it to post.

Any ideas?

Do you have ram in DIMMs 3 or 4 if you do try removing them and seeing if it boots successfully with only ram in the first two DIMMs.
I RMA'd my board because the if there was any ram in DIMMs 3 or 4 it wouldn't boot.

Did you check the bios clear jumper? is it on clear or normal.. might be a shot.. I had this on a user board once. had similar simptoms...

Better yet if you still can return the board get the DFI 790FXB-M2RSH instead.

Thats another badass board. However so far my M3A79-T has been so good I wouldn't trade it for anything. But of course if you have to RMA one, your point of view is obviously different .

I have an M3A79-T sitting behind me that's waiting on deneb. As soon as it's released I'm gonna buy my HDDS/PSU and finish this build. I've been debating on switching to the 790FXB but I really like some features asus has like the Q-connector and the Q-Shield. I love DFI and Asus but working with my P5Q-Deluxe was a dream and I'm sure this 79-T would be the same.

I always end up choosing between DFI and Asus and as of late Asus has been getting my buisness. I love DFI though.

I wish other manufacturers would take after asus and release things like the Q-connector and the Q-shield. I remember seeing that MSI had something similar to the connector but the Q-shield as little of a part that it is, is amazing. Best I/O plate ever.

It kind of sucks I had my build all planned out but I sold a bunch of my old stuff like my 150gb raptor, 500gb Seagate, and my Corsair hx620w to a friend in town. I ended up having to spend that money so I wasn't able to finish my build so now I have to wait till I have the money to finish it.

I've got a Lian Li v1010, 4gb of dominator 1066, M3A79-T and a HD4870. I plan on getting a Corsair hx1000w, 2x 150gb Velociraptors or a SSD if they're cheap and fast when I purchase my HDD's and a 1TB Caviar black. It's kind of stressfull because as much as i love my laptop I'm dieing to get back to my desktop and my x-fi

yeah bro, lately asus has been getting my business too. The M3A32 was an outstanding board (still have it). The M3A79 is the same thing, the best board i've ever had.

I disappointed about DFI. They needed about 6 months to make a normal BIOS for LP UT 790FX.

...and unfortunately the 790FXB-M2RSH has a little bit weak PWM and cooling.

I'm looking forward for a socket AM3 DFI LP UT with digit PWM.

I think that in reality there's absolutely no point of having Digit PWM!

and regarding the DFI's regular 4+1 phase solution on curent SB750 mobos, all I can say based on experience with JR is that DFI engineers really have created great PWM.

I have often wondered about this as DFI's literature claims 4+1 digital PWM, but it looks like analog on the DFI Dark boards. Maybe you can have digital without a single large chip as on the UT boards?

Whatever they are doing, it works well, especially for the price point of the Dark series.

With DFI boards I always have to use the floppy and my floppy drive is as old as I am and I get bad reads, etc... I suppose I could buy a new floppy drive, but first I would have to find an antique dealer that sells them.

You can flash the DFI with a usb stick by making it bootable and copying all the files in the BIOS zip file into the bootable usb and booting from it.

I disappointed about DFI. They needed about 6 months to make a normal BIOS for LP UT 790FX.

Yeah I know that the board seems kinda underpowered on the spec sheet but, I still prefer it over the ASUS.
The FXB has a more stable PWM than the asus the voltages don't fluccuate as much and the sensor readings match the voltage you enter into the BIOS.
The layout on the DFI is better and I already have aftermarket cooling lined up for either boards so cooling is not a big factor for me.
There are also a lot more connectors on DFI there are 2 more internal usb and fan ports, plus it looks purdy.
Not all is perfect though as of now you cannot manually adjust the NB-VID for the FXB which you can on the asus.
Overall though the DFI just seems more stable and is a little cheaper than the asus.
Oh and there is no more squealing from the PWM's which is the best feature of this board .

I'll be probably getting the LP UT AM3 board too this one will hold me out till then.

Just wish i had more time to actually work on my case to get my watercooling setup back up and running.

Have you ever tried F9 on bios main page for your DFI FXB board ? If you do this, you will get much more settings for NB-Vid etc.

Yeah I have done the F9 thing but still no way to adjust NB-VID

Yes, Oliverda the Bios Releases for the DFI LP UT 790FX-M2R were a absolute Joke and complete disappointment! Shameful work from DFI for this boards Bioses it was almost as if the Bios Team were internship Students with absolutely no experience writing Bios,

Exactly. I loved that board's layout and the digit PWM was strong and accurate without any kind of drop or overvolt. The FAN controlling was almost perfect as well (better than on M3A79-T). So it was a good hardware with a bad software (BIOS).

I hope they will produce a good LP UT board on AM3. I'm not sympathizing with the new SB750 DK boards at all. They look less serious than LP UT...at least for me.
