Thanks for the advice and suggestions...

I did update the BIOS to the new 403 and it didn't help.

I swapped out RAM, still no help...

I may have to RMA it...

Once it posts and loads windows, it runs great and I can do a "reboot" with no problems, but as soon as I shut it DOWN completely, I have to go through this ritual of "reset" over and over to get it to post.

    Any ideas?
The "run greats but have a problem when rebooting" normally have to do with a high bus speed, lower HTT or up the voltage.

Made a screenshot of the latency on my DFI FXB M2RS.
    Phenom at 3.2Ghz 1066 Mem 2GHz Northbride.
    Not specially tuned yet.

The Asus should perform similar at those settings.

Yes i have seen a similar issue!

Has nothing to do with RAM.
When ACC is enabled and tuned(hand tuned?) to best stability together with a high overclock you get POST issues with the board and PCIe issues with add on cards.

Try to disable ACC and you might see your problems go away.
Sorry but it seems ASUS has still alot BIOS issues to solve.

For example my issue was that mostly when i turned on the computer for the first time it would not post, just startup for like 3 seconds then shutdown.
But impossible to powerup again. I had to switch off the PSU everytime and repeat until PC posted, sometimes i had to do it 5 times.

thanks! i'll have to look into this dfi board.

there's no guarantee that the asus performs as good so please post anyone. after eyeing thru this thread i've read some posts of people having audio drop outs and that could be bad dpc latency.

Wow Vista seems to add alot latency there.

Thanks xPliziT I will give that a try. None of the other things suggested above have worked, so hopefully this will. Otherwise I can never turn this thing off until ASUS fixes this.

Well, unfortunately, disabling ACC didn't work either.

Now it is getting to where if I shut it down and turn OFF my PSU, then come back later and turn it on, I get nothing but a black screen, then if I hit the reset button a few times it will eventually begin to post, however, I then get a Boot Failure, Press F1 or F2, so I have to do that, reset the BIOS, then reboot again.

I suppose I could just leave it ON all the time, but this is annoying and I hope there is some logical explanation for it that I can fix.

It's a very nice board but I have some issues with it.

    1. Under 100% load the CPU temperature which reported by the mainboard is approximately 10-12C degrees more than the cores temperature (which reported by the CPU itself eg. via AOD). I think it's an unreal value and it causes some trouble. (eg. higher CPU FAN speed than necessary)

    2. When the CPU temp (which is incorrectly reported by the mainboard) reaches the approx. 64-70C degrees the system automatically switches back the CPU's multiplier to 6.5x (1300MHz). It results that the systems slow down significantly. (The Cool and Quiet is disabled in the BIOS.) I haven't met this kind of thing on DFI or Gigabyte boards.

    3. When I do a Save&Exit in the BIOS the hard drives and the fans stop and suddenly start again (like a very quick power off/on). I think it may cause damage to the hard drives.

    4. The motherboard overvolts the CPU under load. For instance when I set 1.35V in the BIOS it means 1.39V under 100% load (reported by PC Probe).

    5. The "Advanced Clock Calibration" option in the BIOS has no any effect. Nor yet the overclocking is worse when I turn it to auto or +2%. When I set it to +4% or more the system can't start at all and I have to do a CMOS CLEAR.

    CPU: 9950BE 125W
    RAM: SuperTalent T1000 2x1GB
    PSU: Corsair HX520

    BIOS: 0403

I hope that ASUS will fix this issues soon.

I get the exact same issues, however I notice that ACC works best at +2 for me. If I set higher than +4 i get a BSOD on boot up. Set to +4 actually makes my CPU unstable.

You should report your experiences about the issues to ASUS. http://vip.asus.com/eservice/techserv.aspx

It may speed up the new BIOS releases.

i cant believe you have bben posting this to some of xtremes finest without them picking this up and seeing what it is,

you are never gonna believe the solution to this, think about it.........

wont hold boot information in bios,

when going from cold boot, computer needs to be restarted several times before boot option to bios.

    mmmmmmmmmm......... any takers yet?

ok ill carry on, with some more clues........

    ok i wont,

    heres the solution,

BUY ANOTHER CMOS BATTERY, JUST BECAUSE THE BOARD IS NEW DOESNT MEAN THE BATTERY IS !!!!!!!!!!

YOU HAVE A DUFF BATTERY IN THERE, I DONT KNOW HOW MANY TIMES I HAVE SEEN THIS,

ALLWAYS THE SAME, WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS BOARD ROUTINE?

yeah not the board, its the cmos battery, go get another, or try one from another mobo

Wow!! that does make complete sense! And I will definately give it a try.

Come to think of it... my clock has been messed up since day 1. I keep having to set the time and I figured I would need a new battery but did not put two and two together that it could be the cause of the other problem.

Now I have to find a place to buy one.. I live out in the middle of no where.

OK, now to my next question........

One guy on another forum told me that it was probably the PSU.

My PSU is a brand new PC Power and Cooling 750w Silencer. So... with my setup, should it be sufficient?

your PSU is fine, and after what you have said about the time being messed up then i am even more sure you got a duff battery, its a pity your far away, they only cost a few pennys, and you could have picked it up tommorow,

let us know how you get on

Well, I am sad to say that the new battery didn't solve the problem.

I went to Walmart (30 miles away) lol, and bought a NEW Duracell and plopped it in, started up, same thing.... turned it off, reset bios, started it up... same thing.....

If I shut my computer down completely, switch off the PSU, and then come back and turn it on, it will not post... so I push reset button on the motherboard and sometimes it will go ahead and post the first time and sometimes I have to reset 5 or 6 times to get it to post.

Today, I had to reset the BIOS with the CMOS pin just to get it to post.

Once it posts and loads windows, it runs great and I can do a "reboot" with no problems, but as soon as I shut it DOWN completely, I have to go through this ritual of "reset" over and over to get it to post.

    Any ideas?
Do you have ram in DIMMs 3 or 4 if you do try removing them and seeing if it boots successfully with only ram in the first two DIMMs.
I RMA'd my board because the if there was any ram in DIMMs 3 or 4 it wouldn't boot.
