So you think all southerners don't know how to talk, huh? Some of the kindest, most outgoing people I know are from the south. You need to check the stereotypes in your own head before you go saying stuff like that.

Just kidding, I know a bunch of people who talk like that. Totally kidding bro.

Bianco, I freaking love how you cut that hex mesh, looks tight. Too bad it's hidden under the pump! Might have to steal that idea for my upcoming mod/build.

haha. i'm sorry man. no offense meant.

thanks bro. i'm quite fond of that handiwork using a nibbler. i knew they'd be hidden... so i took a couple more pictures of them. no problem about that, we all share our ideas in this wonderful forum.

finally got to upload the pics and have the project log updated:
starting with the point wherein i stripped the mobo off the stock cooling

    overview

    backplates

Bianco bare with me I am going thru a lot and I am slowly catching up with your log, I don't wanna turn to the last page and spoil the ending!!!

First off let me tell how lucky you are to watch that F1 GP I have dual citizenship US/BR and my heart whne it comes to F1 is all Brazilian

Massa had terrible luck but that's what makes F1 exciting, I'm glad there ar more fans here in XS that we can open our own F1 thread.

Returning to the topic I love how EK make all the blocks for Asus they look amazing and fits your project like a glove. I had a hell of a time to get mosfet and decent nb blocks for my DFI.

I also enjoyed how those backplate are nice and tidy!

Your paint job ended up very nice too I had trouble with the cold northern arizona weather but I got my painting done as well.

And man 1 more thing YOUR SPEED makes me feel embarrassed Your so fast I can't keep up with all updates... I'm still far away to get my project done do to lack of some parts, some minor bumps along the road or pure lazyness.

Well I hope to see the rest of your log soon so I can see the finished project!

    F1: go Massa! go Ferrari!

thanks Jor3lBR for the kind words.
yeah, was disappointed that massa didn't win the first sg race. i was actually a ferrari fan, but when i read how good massa interacted with the fans (as compared to the other drivers...), he won my respect.

i had to rush the paintjob and metalwork... all those that would irritate my wife basically. haha. because she'll be going on maternity leave soon and i dare not anger a pregnant woman bearing my son with all the noise and fumes. haha. so it was the sense of urgency that spurned me on. but believe me... if it wasn't for this, i'd still be on the planning stage.

i'll be having an update on the temps real soon... i'm having some trouble with the gpus.

your progress is doing quite well also. quite eager to see your extreme cooling!

One F1 fan here too (quite obvious as there have been 9 drivers from Finland in F1, and currently 2). I've never seen any races live tough

Btw that tubing/red theme turned out sick!
Not into xtreme builds anymore, just like to keep things silent.

    haha. thanks N3it1.
as for f1... well, i assemble model cars and f1 cars are quite nice to put on display. not much of a fan of bikes, but who knows when i have finished assembling all types of cars, i'd be going into bike models.

    Insane!

Man that build is something. I would of never thought you would of managed to fit everything in that Cosmos case! Wow! Well done!

The case looks like a Nuclear weapon or something Haha!

I have 2 questions for you. Maybe i missed them through the 7 pages long thread

Where did you got the Microcool Core protector from ?

And did the back-plates came with the mosfet blocks or you had to order them separately?

Thanks and really, again, well done on that thing man! It's one hell of a dream PC! Oh and BTW: When are we seeing some Gaming Benchmarks?

    thanks Patriote.
i got the microcool core protector and mosfet wb backplates from swc.
i had to order the backplates separately since the wbs didn't come with it. looking at the backplates now, i'm thinking of painting them as well just to fit the red-black theme better. haha.

as for the benchmarks... that's the frustrating part. my temps right now for the gpus are nuclear hot. haha. when i run 3dmark06, it shuts down due to heat (temp at ~100degC). i have asked for advise regarding it:

1, gpu-wb contact not so good
2, gpu wb not screwed tight enough
    3, not enough airflow
    4, gpu wb issue

i'm still waiting for this weekend to drain the loop, unmount the gpus, clean up the chips, mount again using mx2, tighten screws and put it all in again.

just thinking about all those tasks makes me... hahaha.

Ya man, i know how frustrating watercooling can be, trust me. I hate having to un-loop and re-loop over and over when all of a sudden you get a weird problem. HATE IT! That's the big problem with watercooling...

Anyway, thanks for pointing out where you got the back-plates and core protector. I had completely forgot about Sidewinder Computers.

As for your problem, i would bet it's a bad mounting... Maybe adding a 120mm just in front of your 3 cards but i doubt it would make much of a difference for the moment. If you hit 100c running 3DMark06, imagine what you'd get running Crysis maxed out...Heh

2 questions comes to my mind tho, are you sure the pump(s) you are using for your GPU loop are correctly working (Flow going on normally) ?

And what radiator are you using for that GPU loop ?

EDIT: I can't seem to find the Microcool Core Protectors on SWC.com... I'm probably just blind... Can you shoot me the link?

haha. makes me want to get a 'torture rack' type of case.
yeah, i'll be taking the gpus out this weekend. hope it does the trick!
the gpu pump is working fine (got the vipercheck moving along smoothly) and as for the gpu rad, i'm using the tfc 360.

i think the core protectors are out of stock in swc. i can't seem to find them as well. but looking through my email/transactions i found these:

Microcool - Core Protective Rubbers - 5 Pack
    Unit Price - $3.95

maybe you can shoot an email to Gary and have a check when would they have it back available.

Sounds good. Will shoot him an e-mail. I am myself preparing (Hopefully) my next project That's only if the GF let me do it... She hate it when I'm on computers. "It's my passion honey. Let me do it or else I'll never be happy" It's not like if i really needed her "Ok" for it...Lol

For your GPU temps prob, it's probably just a bad mount. Maybe screws aren't tightened enough. Or maybe it's missing thermal compound... That rad should be able to handle the heat load no prob. Are you getting 100c on all 3 cards or only 1 of them ?

nice! another project. :thumb2: good for you man.
i'll be looking out for another awesome system from you then.

yup, probably that's the reason. got the weekend to find out. actually the 100degC would just be the first and the third. the middle one is fine. so i guess it's really how i had the other 2 mounted.

    thanks again Patriote

yes. the weekend has almost come to an end and...
    ...i haven't drained my loop...
    ...i haven't re-mounted my gpus...
...still status quo for the build...

    but i...
    ...bought a new case...
...got a rotary tool to make modding easier and faster...

    because i...
...might be seeing my son in a few days!!!

really have to bring this project to a close
hopefully, when i'm done with mod and painting the case, the bp fittings would be available
    haha

    Nice Bianco keep it up!

I'm also stuck with Cryo_Z giving me problems and waiting in parts.

What BP fittings do you need!
F1: It's getting harder for Ferrari and Massa.

i hope you meant keep it up in terms of pc build progress... and not in making more babies.. hahah. i swear i end production at 2: 1 boy, 1 girl... that's it! hahah.

i need the rotary Qs and 45s. it would really cut down the loop-the-loops of my loops.

F1: yup... 2 more to go. tight battle for the drivers... but i think ferrari would get the constructor title. hopefully brazil will be massa's.

Yes 2 is a good amount these days! My plans are for 1 girl and 1 boy too.
    Congrats!

I received a mail from Gary (http://www.sidewindercomputers.com) today and they just received the parts you need:

haha. true. actually in sg, raising a kid is quite expensive. but i really appreciate the sense of security that the country offers... well compared to where i came from anyways.

yup, i got info about the bp stocks coming in too. placed the order.
once i get the fittings, time to tidy up and move my system in a new 'home'

nice combo pare. black silver and red...

have you tried those viper checks with BP or EK spacers to fit those BP temp probes?...

thanks pare! still nothing compared to the tantric and other pinoy creations.

yup, i have tried using the ek spacers but it's too thick for the temp sensor to 'bite' into the threads on the viperchecks. i haven't tried using bp spacers. anyways, i have plan b for temp sensors and it depends on the batch of rotaries that i have ordered.

Awesome build! I'm sure RRR would like the red haha

So did this temp rig you made up work? Looks like a handy mod for sure.

Oh & where did you get those microcool chip protector rubbers from?

    a bit of soldering

hopefully, when i put the bitspower temp sensor with the loop - i can see the temp reading in 3 display output:
    (1) lcd readout - which i can see from the side panel,
    (2) mobo/everest/asus software - from monitor
    (3) *optional 5.25 bay device - from the front

yes, i would like to be constantly consoled that all the hardwork i put in wc'ing is so much worth the temp gains... or rather loss.

    thanks 2low4u.
and another thanks for reminding me of that mod! almost forgot that one because got a bit side tracked with the gpu temp issue.

anyways, it works for the lcd readout. and i think the lcd readout is correct. i do not have any other temp sensor to check, but it looks logically correct. as for the other 2 output channels that i hoped would work: (1) drive bay - gives out weird temp or sometimes even zero reading... (2) mobo sensor - the system is such a jungle, i cannot plug the sensor plug onto the mobo.

i have a new case for the system, i will be modding the case and eventually move everything in that new case. i'm sure it would have enough room... and i can continue with the check better. will update. and if i forget, you guys can remind me.

the chip protectors, i got them from swc. but it looks like it's out of stock or removed from their online shop. you can email gary of swc about it.
