So with the touted theoretical 20% lower power draw from 55nm, we get ~250W for a single GTX280. Since an 'X2' card doesn't double power consumption (4870 = 280W, 4870X2 = 450W so ~1.6x gain in power consumption) a 280GX2 could conceivably run COOLER than the 4870X2 whilst easily outperforming it.
450W is the system consumption, but yeah, even tho the x2 uses alot of power (I'd estimate something around 300W) the stock cooler seems to be able to take care of it well.
