They removed them now, but dont take the pre launch prices and even those on launch day serious, real price will be lower, ocuk allways pulls that overpricing crap to rip people off, just wait a day or two after launch and other stores have them as well and it will be atleast 10% less throughout.

Oh, I just ignored it for abit. Sounded like the 64lane Ibexpeak and there is no source/screens.

So ye, movie edit, rendering. Yes.
Games...Unless you run that valvemap or vantagejunk then no.

But again, since we dont know the numbers it could be crap or right. It could also be 52% faster raytracing.

Else yes, its overhyped if you even have the slighest idea of this being in regular games.

    (Core i7-965 platform: X58, DDR3 3G, Discrete VGA card, QX9770 platform unknown.)
In short...pretty much useless garbage news.

    the 133mhz bus is interesting.

i hate to be the downer here but so long as we are crippled by the current line of hard drives and over priced under performing SSD drives all this power doesnt mean anything really.. the drives cant feed the system fast enough. its just a bottleneck that there is no sign of done away with.

maybe when processing power gets to the point where hard drives are running 100% 24/7, then maybe thos elazy hard drive makers will start making faster hard drives.

By the time I make it Icore 7 will be running at 10GHzzz and my parts will have gone to waste.

Do you think I should sell them now before I even build them (M/B - CPUs) and get a Nehalem? But I really don't want to deal with all the initial M/B bugs this time.
What bugs? Intel doesn't do bugs. This is Intel CPU's and Chipsets we're talking about here.

T-Flight if you believe intel chips and chipsets have no "bugs",you should check the current errata list...

PS Intel had a "TLB" issue too, even before Barcelona launched, but they reacted fast too :

LOL, yeah. Now what is it really?
According to JJ it's (also) due to branch prediction improvements. As Superpi is just a huge loop IIRC.

I'm pretty sure the memory speed is important for 16 and 32M. I'm not sure about 1M, though.

05 to 10% in games is pretty much good if you think about, which means Intel is going in the right direction and it tends to get better with the tick ramp.

Yes, hard drives are slow compared to the CPU, memory, GPU, etc.. but with pre-caching, everything is loaded off the hard drive into the memory. As long as you have enough main memory and GPU memory, you should be fine.

I've even played some games straight off my DVD drive without installing it, and yes the loading times are about 5-10 times longer but it still plays just fine.

For short... those who already owns a Quad and waiting for gaming improvements, don't get Nehalem. Those that are still waiting to move to Quadcore someday, look no further. I7 is the replacement.

All systems sold. Will be back after Sandy Bridge!

Like the Pentium flaw? Isn't that the most well known CPU bug ever?

Thats my plan aswell. Also why I kept my E6600 so long. Tho the super cheap 45nm quads was so tempting. I will wait all the way to Lynnfield. My longest time without an upgrade...but the E6600 is still pretty hardcore. Just upgraded the GFX once.

Wait wait, why do you say "in a week or so"?

Does that imply a mid-October release?

This is a really silly statement. Obviously it's a function of cache size and latency. For example, a 1 second latency 1GB cache is pretty pointless
