8K test is small ffts. what temp monitoring tool are you using? TJMax should be 100c.

Blend has the 8k test as well. It kicks in about 20 mins into the test.

Both coretemp and realtemp. Coretemp reads 95c Tjmax

Well this is a first and 0601 I believe is an improvement.

I've tried both manual gtlrefs of -45mv (VTT 1.35) and auto. Both boot, but strangely with auto my copy and write times were in the upper 9000s. Will give that another go.

One thing I have done is to set trfc to 110. I know that when using the 790i and getting up into the 1900+mhz mark it would auto set trfc around this sort of value. NB 1.6v mem 1.98v CPU Pll 1.6. Mem timings are very loose with ai twister set to moderate.

Note this is with OCZ Gold 1066mhz sticks.

Booted at 8-8-8-30 and ran everest, but crashed out of 3dmark. More vdimm possibly. They should be able to do 8-7-6-21 with a tighter trfc.

    It's a start though.

    Well I can't achieve 4.5ghz bootable. I managed a 3dmark 06 run at 4.320 9x480, but that was about it.

I then decided to have a look through the hall of fame on Hwbot. I did a search for qx9650 scores between 25,000 and 30,000 single card in 3dmark 06. I wanted to see if I was missing something, but the results or should I say '0' results for rampage extreme seem to back it up. I can just about smile, but I think I've made a right c0ckup choosing this board. Off to have a look for my next spectacular mistake.lol

You can set a VTT that's 4 hour prime stable, then on next reboot it BSOD when loading Windows. After manually setting the GTL Ref, it no longer randomly BSOD!

Set the GTL Ref according to this thread: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=202292

    Good luck!!
My VTT is 1.35v - would cpu gtl vref be -40mV

    There is a
    CPU GTL vref (0)
    CPU GTL vref (1)
    CPU GTL vref (2)
    CPU GTL vref (3)

Do they all set the same?? Are you sure it's not + 40mV instead of -40mV

With 2x1 GB the Rampage have no Problems.
But with 2x2 GB the Rampage canīt boot > 1800 MHz RAM.
With the 1:2 dividier i have up FSB 425 no go.
The RAMīs are Prime stable to 1800 MHz are not Game stable, Crysis or Race Driver Grid freeze with this RAM Frequenz >1700 MHz.

    According to the equation

    Vtt x 0.667 + Y = Vtt x 0.635

    1.35 x 0.667 +y = 1.35 x .635
    .90045 + y = 0.85725
    y= -0.0432
    y = -43mv

I'd say closer to -45mv. personally I've only stuck that value into vref (0) and vref (1).

From experience of the 790i and my QX, the minus values were the way to go. For the q6600 positive values.

None of these equations are set in stone though. Can be trial and error. For instance I got higher FSB on the 790i using -110,-110. So go figure????

Question, I'm not finding the 0601 bios release on ASUS site, is this a beta release?

Also will setting the CPU GTL vref for e8600 benefit performance?

So has anyone been able to get 24/7 stable with a 2x2GB kit at any reasonably high FSB?

I'm thinking about going back to the Rampage Formula and DDR2

Hi Coral11 - there is a link to 0601 on post 1029 by EF.

Zlojack - 420 was my highest with 2x2Gb, one OCZ 2000Mhz rated the other G.Skill 1600Mhz rated. I'm getting some good results on my 2x1Gb Doms and would have bought the 2x2Gb kit only these came up at a good price on eBay !. Might take the plunge after the re-mortgage to change to W/C !!

If you read down that thread you'll see as long as you're using a 45nm CPU, GTL Ref will be in the negitives.

Theoretically using a Dual Core you only need to set the 0 and 1, but no harm on setting all of them.

So now you set the 0.667x 'Y value' to -40mv

You have now made the 0.667x GTL voltage as close as possible to the 0.635x GTL voltage.
In the article note that it said "Round up to the nearest selectable bios value", therefore if the calculations comes out at -41mV, then you select -45mV.

Of course use what you think benefits you the most, but whatever you set, don't leave it on AUTO!

That was with your quad, right?

I'm hoping to get some more than that out of the dually. Anyway, I'm not one to give up so easily, but this board has been frustrating so far with the RAM I have.

Yes it was with my quad - up to 450FSB on my current DIMS but stopped there due to temps.

Would like to see if 0601 improves quad clocking and memory compatibility.

So far for my sticks, 0601 is the same story. I also got a BSOD last night while watching a YouTube vid with the memory set at 1333 7-7-7-20

    Something is out of whack.

EDIT: Nice stuff EF! So maybe 4x1 might be the way to go...hmm.

GTL Ref is not about performance, it's stability. Manually setting it puts you in control of what the motherboard sets, as I'm suspecting that the GTL Ref when left on AUTO scales with the FSB, and not with VTT, as it was supposed to. That may be why when left all on AUTO everything is more stable, as both the VTT and GTL Ref scale with the FSB, and are effectively in sync.

    All theoretical of course.

Well, I've just finished re-installing Vista

After playing with Skews and GTL's trying to get 400FSB and RAM at 1600 MHz stable I lost one of the drives in my RAID0 array
To be honest Zlojak, might be better to leave Raid until you've found stability. Just a thought.
