ZOMG, I'm just wasting my time...
    I can't get 9*445 30sec orthos stable, but 8*500 is running for 26mins now...
My Vnb is at 1.3V and it gets pretty hot. I have a blowing on it right now.
Cpu is at 1.368V load now (cpu-z) Gonna try lowering it.
Orthos is indentifying my cpu as 4500 (9*500) and when is was at 9*445 orthos said it was running at 8*500...

Hmm my "CPU" temp seems like to be a low, my room is 22c and CPU 19c

I kind a like these default setting when i am not playing anything, silent, stable, ez! But i have itty bitty question about OC, Why does some programms stop working and give "application stopped working" message? This doesnt happen on my Winxp PRO. Just on this crappy 64 VISTA, Ill hate this OS already . My systems works stable but i got this message when i am running Prime95, Intelburner!

By the way! Heres some test results from my little OC's, Chip is C2Q9550 C1 (FPO # L816A880 @ VID of 1.2500)
    http://img523.imageshack.us/my.php?image=testi2za7.jpg
    Bios VCORE: 1.37xxx
    vNB: 1.32
    VTT: 1.30
    vDRAM: 1.80

I know vcore is ty but dont know why it is not stable on lower volts ?? Maybe that 1.2500 vid.

On 1.40 i tried +3900mhz temps went up to 70 on all cores :O

My #2 and #3 Core shows always +40c temps even on idle, maybe stuck sensor? Can anyone confirm? #0 & #1 Are always on idle ~30c.

Try 446-450x9. Some FSB areas are tricky it seems with this p45.

Also, you transaction booster is auto, set to manual and put Common Perf level at 11 or 10 (if you run 1:1, if you use divider do 7-8 pl).

Either get realtemp or http://cpuid.com/hwmonitor.php. Those give accurate core readings..

Thx The only reason why I wanted to run 9*445-450 was because I tought 450fsb was easier for my board.
But nvm, 500fsb is faster so... I just wanted to achieve 4ghz 27/7.

Can you tell me what the transaction booster does?

Btw, when I came back and I booted my PC it said: Overclocking failed. I went into the bios and left it whitout changing anything and I could boot up... Is this a warning or some usual asus stuff? :p

Cold boot fails sometimes.Transaction booster is the different performance levels used in the mch (nb), don't know the technical details, all I know is the lower the better, and it varies with dividers

Isn't MorGo7h's VTT a bit high for an E8400? Unless it was a typo, i'm pretty sure he's running his system with a VTT of 1.3v!

Alright, I'm trying to get my E8500 stable at 4.2Ghz, but Prime 95 (x64) fails within 5 seconds on Worker Thread #2 - which I'm guessing is my 2nd physical CPU -- which would be Core # 1 --- which would require tweaking of GTL (1/3), right?

    My settings so far:
    CPU 9.5x
    FSB 443
    FSB STRAP 266
RAM 1111 or 554Mhz in CPUZ

    vCPU 1.35 BIOS, 1.316 CPUZ
    vPLL 1.52
    VTT AUTO
    vDIMM 1.9
    vNB 1.26

Before I tried to OC the CPU, I made sure my RAM and FSB were stable and ran Orthos for 3.5hrs +, spent about 2 or 3 days with the system (ripping DVD's, etc...) and it was fine. So I think the RAM and FSB are fine.

    My voltages are:
    Vcore: 1.6xx I think (bios)/ 1.336V Idle (cpuz)
    vPPL: 1.52
    VTT: 1.22 (Too high?)
vNB: now on 1.26, was on 1.3.

I'm still trying to lower some voltages. Vcore and Vppl are ok.

Yeah, recheck your vcore as well, that's a hell of a lot of vdrop. Also, read the Anandtech article on VTT: http://www.anandtech.com/weblog/showpost.aspx?i=428
1.22 seems okay then, but personally, I'd be more comfortable trying to lower that as much as I possibly could without compromising stability.

What FSB are you at right now? And what's the voltage on your RAM? What sticks do you have, and what are they rated for? Reason I'm asking is that I've got the newer version of the OCZ PC28500's and they like low voltages... I'm currently running them at 556Mhz with 1.9v set in BIOS, which in reality (measured by a multimeter) is 1.96v.

I've also noticed that playing with the NB GTL at high FSB will allow you to keep vNB down so as to reduce heat. I was able to run 533 FSB with vNB at 1.26 and NB GTL at .625x.

Give her some more Vcore mate, set eg 1.375 which will be 1.33 under CPU-Z, those are really low volts you are setting for 4.2Ghz ops... if this was an EO E8500, I would say okay but not for a CO model...
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

Thx for measuring the voltage of the Mem. Many ppl said this board was overvolting with 0.2V, but 0.06V is ok for me

I'll try bumping it up, but only Core # 2 is erroring out... That's why I wanted to try and maybe dail in the GTL voltages for that core specifically.

Which GTL controls the voltages for the 2nd CPU, GLT (0/2) or GTL (1/3)? And would would be a good reference point for GTL tweaking to start at? I know GTL values are based on VTT (which should be roughly .67 of VTT), but for these Asus boards it's not intuitive at all.

GTL (1/3) would be the actual core 1 or second core for the duals.

Thanks. I'll try tweaking the GTL's now to see if I make any head way.

WEIRD>> my problem of not being able to reboot when setting a value to VTT other than AUTO have disappeared after I set VTT to 1.22. I really have no explanation other than maybe that VTT was stuck at a particular value and I never set it high enough to get it "unstuck".

Anyway, as I'm typing this right now, OCCT is running in the background with the following settings:
    RAM/FSB at 1:1 for 533Mhz,
    vNB 1.26,
    NB GTL .625x,
    VTT 1.16,
    PLL 1.52,
    vDIMM 1.9,

PL 10 (can't go below at 1:1 due to some bug with the BIOS),
    Static Read ENABLED
    Mem OC Charger ENABLED

Glad you are making some headway

I have decided to RMA my 'E' and if #2 is flaky I will get a P5Q-Deluxe as some others have done. My Biostar TPower is sitting here in front of me so I reckon it's time to get busy!

I'm done with mine. Slack timings, horrible fsb limit, broken LLC and a few other things wore me down. DFI LP Dk X48-T2RSB+ on its way

you must be using at least CL4xx-x to set PL9 or lower in 1:1.

Heh. That, I did not know about. Well my machine has passed 5+ hrs of OCCT Ram tests at 533 FBS with 1.26 NB and NB GTL at .625. Time to work on the CPU now.
